Context

The Senior Project Manager - Construction will take overall responsibility for planning, coordinating, and controlling major construction and project management initiatives. The position will ensure that projects remain aligned with contractual requirements, approved budgets, delivery programmes, quality expectations, and UAE regulatory standards. Working across clients, consultants, contractors, procurement teams, engineers, and internal stakeholders, the project manager will convert strategic objectives into practical delivery plans. Effective leadership in this position will improve cost control, reduce project risk, strengthen accountability, and support the successful completion of complex developments in Abu Dhabi Emirate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead construction and project management assignments from concept development and mobilisation through delivery, closeout, and handover.
  • Establish project objectives, execution strategies, governance procedures, reporting structures, and performance expectations.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, resource plans, procurement timelines, and delivery milestones.
  • Monitor progress against approved baselines and initiate corrective measures when cost, schedule, quality, or resource performance begins to deviate.
  • Direct cross‑functional project teams while promoting collaboration, accountability, timely decision‑making, and consistent performance.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, suppliers, engineering teams, and internal business functions.
  • Maintain clear stakeholder communication and provide accurate updates on progress, risks, financial performance, and outstanding decisions.
  • Identify technical, commercial, programme, operational, and regulatory risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain project risk registers and implement mitigation, contingency, and recovery plans.
  • Manage project budgets, expenditure controls, cash‑flow forecasts, cost reports, and resource utilisation.
  • Review forecasts and identify potential overruns early enough for effective intervention.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commercial, and operational activities to maintain integrated project delivery.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes and confirm compliance with approved specifications, construction standards, and project procedures.
  • Ensure project activities meet UAE safety regulations, environmental requirements, building standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Review contractor schedules, progress claims, change requests, resource plans, and performance reports.
  • Support the evaluation of variations, scope changes, schedule impacts, and proposed corrective measures.
  • Use Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, ERP platforms, and construction management systems to track project performance and documentation.
  • Maintain structured records of approvals, correspondence, decisions, risks, changes, and completed actions.
  • Prepare executive reports, dashboards, presentations, performance metrics, forecasts, and lessons learned documentation.
  • Facilitate project meetings, progress reviews, risk workshops, coordination sessions, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Resolve escalated project issues through structured analysis, consultation, and decisive action.
  • Mentor project team members and promote professional development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Support final inspections, testing, commissioning, closeout documentation, and project handover.
  • Attend in‑person Day1 onboarding at an AECOM office as a condition of employment.
Ideal Profile
  • Minimum 12 years of professional project management experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience within construction management or project and construction management assignments.
  • Proven success managing large‑scale construction projects with budgets exceeding 5 million US dollars.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or an equivalent project management credential is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of project and construction management methodologies and governance frameworks.
  • Advanced experience in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and resource management.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable project scheduling platforms.
  • Experience using construction management software, document control systems, and ERP applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UAE and Gulf construction standards, regulations, approval requirements, and industry practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors, consultants, clients, and multidisciplinary internal teams.
  • Strong knowledge of risk identification, mitigation planning, contingency management, and project recovery.
  • Experience overseeing quality assurance, safety compliance, and regulatory performance.
  • Excellent analytical judgment with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience directing cross‑functional and multicultural teams.
