Role Context

The Senior Project Manager will take overall responsibility for the time, cost, quality, safety, and contractual performance of assigned construction packages. The role requires strong control of site supervision, contractor activities, technical coordination, commercial matters, programme performance, and communication with the client. Acting as a senior point of authority, the position will ensure project teams remain focused on approved objectives while emerging risks, delays, scope changes, and technical issues are addressed before they affect delivery. The manager will also establish key execution, safety, and quality plans while directing the performance of site personnel and maintaining transparent reporting to senior management and the client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of assigned construction packages against approved time, cost, quality, and performance targets.
  • Supervise contractors and verify that works are executed in accordance with specifications, drawings, contracts, and milestone dates.
  • Direct the supervision team and coordinate day-to-day inspection and monitoring activities across the project.
  • Maintain strong safety leadership and ensure contractors comply with contractual health and safety obligations.
  • Administer FIDIC-based or standalone construction contracts in accordance with agreed commercial and procedural requirements.
  • Resolve site issues promptly and coordinate practical solutions with contractors, consultants, engineers, and client representatives.
  • Present construction progress, package performance, risks, and major issues to the client team.
  • Discuss potential changes in scope with the client and key subcontractors and assess their impact on delivery.
  • Follow up on project instructions, commitments, approvals, and outstanding actions to maintain progress.
  • Establish and maintain the Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Control Plan, and other required management documents.
  • Define programme requirements across project areas and monitor staff performance against agreed objectives.
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and control technical, financial, and administrative functions associated with the project and site team.
  • Delegate responsibilities to key personnel according to their technical disciplines and areas of expertise.
  • Provide input to performance reviews and support development planning for subordinate team members.
  • Work with project managers, engineers, and discipline heads to develop budgets, schedules, resource plans, and delivery strategies.
  • Monitor project activities and report significant milestones, risks, delays, and conditions affecting cost, schedule, performance, or client relations.
  • Establish weekly internal project meetings to review status, identify constraints, and assign clear action items.
  • Represent AECOM in formal client meetings and communicate project positions professionally.
  • Monitor construction health and safety performance and lead corrective action when violations or unsafe practices are identified.
  • Ensure project activities remain aligned with applicable AECOM procedures, governance requirements, and professional standards.
Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a Bachelor 's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. A Master 's Degree will be considered an advantage. The role requires at least 20 years of professional experience in building engineering, construction supervision, and management of major projects. A strong track record delivering complex building developments in the Middle East is essential. Candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge of UAE construction standards, local building regulations, construction methodologies, quality control procedures, and contractor management practices. Advanced project management capability is required, particularly in budget control, programme management, resource planning, risk resolution, client coordination, and management of multiple construction priorities. Practical knowledge of FIDIC contracts is particularly important. The successful professional should also demonstrate strong analytical judgment, technical reporting capability, leadership experience, and the ability to make informed decisions in demanding site environments.
