Role Context
This position supports AECOM 's Transportation business line within its Middle East and Africa operations. The Senior Project Control Engineer will manage scheduling and performance reporting for complex private development projects. The role requires close coordination with project management, construction, engineering, procurement and cost-control teams to maintain reliable schedules, accurate forecasts and effective recovery plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and update integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent software.
- Incorporate design, procurement and construction stages into the project programme.
- Review contractors ' baseline programmes for contractual compliance.
- Evaluate activity sequencing, resource allocation and scheduling logic.
- Monitor construction progress and identify variances against approved plans.
- Recommend corrective measures and schedule recovery strategies.
- Coordinate with the Resident Engineer and supervision team to verify site progress.
- Ensure verified progress is accurately reflected in schedule updates.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients.
- Highlight milestones, delays, risks, critical activities and recovery measures.
- Evaluate Extension of Time claims, delay analyses and revised contractor programmes.
- Verify claim submissions against applicable contractual procedures.
- Establish progress measurement systems and performance indicators.
- Conduct trend analyses and what-if schedule scenarios.
- Assess the impact of proposed changes and recommend mitigation measures.
- Support cash-flow forecasts, resource histograms and manpower projections.
- Coordinate planning information with Cost Control, Engineering, Procurement and Construction teams.
- Present schedule status and recovery plans during progress and coordination meetings.
- Support project leadership with risk identification and mitigation planning.
- Maintain compliance with AECOM project management and control procedures.
- Protect schedule data integrity through accurate documentation and reporting.
- Mentor junior planners and site engineers in planning and scheduling practices.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience delivering building and infrastructure projects.
- Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 or equivalent project-planning software.
- Demonstrated consultancy experience supporting private developer projects.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling and construction sequencing.
- Experience reviewing baseline programmes and contractor schedule updates.
- Detailed knowledge of contract management and Extension of Time evaluations.
- Proven capability in delay analysis, variance assessment and recovery planning.
- Experience preparing progress reports, trend analyses and schedule scenarios.
- Professional certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is preferred.
- Experience integrating schedules with cost control and cash-flow forecasting.
- Knowledge of resource histograms and workforce projections.
- Experience identifying and mitigating risks on large-scale projects.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior planning professionals.
- Strong analytical, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
