Job summary

Duncan & Ross Consulting is seeking a senior Process Engineer for oil and gas projects in the UAE. You will execute FEED and Detailed Engineering activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and optimized process designs in line with project specs and standards.

You will develop PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, design bases, operating manuals, and calculations, while coordinating with mechanical, piping, electrical, and safety teams. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in process engineering, with FEED and Detailed Engineering for oil and gas projects.
• Proficient in process simulations, sizing, hydraulic analysis, and relief system design.
• Knowledge of international codes and client-specific requirements.
• Experience in safety studies such as HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA.

Responsibilities

• Execute process engineering activities during FEED and Detailed Engineering phases for oil and gas projects.
• Develop, review and prepare PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, design basis documents and operating manuals.
• Perform simulations, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, line sizing and relief valve sizing.
• Develop process design philosophies, operating procedures, control narratives and process descriptions.
• Prepare heat and material balances and ensure designs meet safety and reliability targets.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to ensure integrated designs.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and constructability reviews.
• Review vendor documents and technical proposals for compliance.
• Support development of process control strategies and instrumentation design.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety and project economics.
• Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Troubleshoot process-related issues and develop practical solutions.
• Review and guide junior process engineers to ensure deliverable quality.

The Process Engineer will be responsible for executing process engineering activities during the Engineering phase, including FEED and Detailed Engineering, for oil and gas projects. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and optimized process designs in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute process engineering activities during the FEED and Detailed Engineering phases of oil and gas projects.
• Develop, review, and prepare process engineering deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process datasheets, design basis documents, operating manuals, and engineering calculations.
• Perform process simulations, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, line sizing, relief valve sizing, and utility consumption calculations using industry-standard software.
• Develop and review process design philosophies, operating procedures, control narratives, and process descriptions.
• Prepare heat and material balances and ensure process designs meet project performance, safety, operability, and reliability requirements.
• Coordinate with mechanical, piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and safety disciplines to ensure effective integration of process requirements into overall project design.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, constructability reviews, and other safety and design review workshops.
• Review vendor documents and technical proposals to ensure compliance with process design requirements and project specifications.
• Support the development of process control strategies and provide technical input for instrumentation and control system design.
• Identify process optimization opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, operability, and project economics.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Assist in troubleshooting process-related issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Review and guide the work of junior process engineers to ensure quality and consistency of engineering deliverables.
• Ensure all process engineering deliverables are completed within project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering, with extensive expertise in FEED and Detailed Engineering for oil and gas projects.
• Strong experience in process simulation, equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, relief system design, and process optimization.
• Proficiency in process engineering software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Pipesim, Flare net, or equivalent.
• Thorough knowledge of international codes and standards including API, ASME, ISO, NFPA, and client-specific requirements.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering process engineering solutions for large-scale EPC oil and gas projects.
• Experience in participating in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and other processes of safety studies.
• Strong understanding of upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas facilities and process systems.
• Excellent communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
