Role Context

The Senior Principal HSE Engineer is responsible for solving the most complex HSE engineering challenges that impact business direction, project execution, and discipline strategy. This role leads large engineering teams, manages fire protection and safety engineering systems, and ensures full compliance with project specifications, international standards, and customer requirements across major EPC developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed HSE engineering analyses and design according to project specifications, standards, and design basis
• Develop innovative, reliable, and cost‑effective solutions for complex HSE engineering and fire protection challenges
• Lead large engineering teams on complex and high‑value EPC projects while managing scope, schedules, deliverables, and workforce planning
• Prepare, review, and approve design HSE philosophies, fire protection philosophies, and technical specifications
• Lead preparation and approval of safety study scope documents, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and reports
• Review and approve safety equipment lists, firefighting systems, lifesaving equipment, and personnel safety specifications
• Prepare and review firewater demand calculations and hydraulic reports using PIPENET or equivalent systems
• Review P and ID markups for firewater ring main systems, hydrants, hose reels, monitors, deluge systems, and fire protection interfaces
• Review escape route layouts, fire and gas detection layouts, safety sign layouts, and cause and effect matrices
• Participate in and coordinate HAZID, HAZOP, and other project safety workshops and close‑out reports
• Review and approve third‑party safety study reports and SEAMS action monitoring systems
• Provide technical direction for Fire Protection and Safety Engineering deliverables and vendor technical submissions
• Support procurement through requisitions, bid tabulations, vendor evaluations, and purchase recommendations
• Lead discipline teams during internal, customer, and third‑party technical audits and design reviews
• Coordinate with fabrication, marine, planning, project management, and multidisciplinary engineering teams for safe project delivery
• Mentor engineers, support departmental development, and contribute to global procedures, standards, and lessons learned systems

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering
• Minimum 15 Years of experience in oil and gas projects with major EPC contractors or consultants
• Strong expertise in HSE engineering, fire protection systems, and advanced safety studies
• Deep knowledge of international engineering codes, statutory requirements, and project execution standards
• Strong experience in FEED, detailed engineering, and multidisciplinary EPC project leadership
• Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a recognized engineering society
• Proven leadership in managing large engineering teams and complex project environments
• Strong technical communication, strategic decision‑making, and client coordination skills
