Job summary

Supabase is expanding its PostgreSQL platform with expert engineers who build and maintain extensions in C and Rust. You will diagnose issues in large-scale deployments, ensure idempotent pipelines, and manage complex extension ecosystems across thousands of instances.

You will work with PostgreSQL background workers, shared memory, and hook systems, while collaborating with customers and teams to keep the foundation secure and high performing.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL internals, including planner, executor and storage
• Proven experience building PostgreSQL extensions in C and Rust
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL permission model (RLS, roles, grants)
• Experience troubleshooting production issues in managed PostgreSQL environments
• Ability to read and navigate PostgreSQL source code confidently
• Experience with multi-tenant database architectures and scale

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain PostgreSQL extensions in C and Rust
• Diagnose and resolve issues in managed PostgreSQL deployments, including custom extension failures and performance bottlenecks
• Own idempotent deployment pipelines across thousands of running PostgreSQL instances
• Manage complex extension ecosystems, including compatibility and upgrade paths
• Work with PostgreSQL's background worker framework, shared memory management, and hook system
• Collaborate with customers, partners, and internal teams to maintain a secure and performant foundation
