The Senior Mechanical Engineer - Workshop Maintenance provides engineering support for workshop operations and static equipment maintenance across plant facilities. The role combines technical troubleshooting, fabrication and welding expertise, machining support, preventive maintenance planning and materials coordination to maintain equipment availability and reduce avoidable downtime.
The position requires close interaction with workshop teams, field maintenance personnel, procurement functions and Material Management.
Strong technical judgment is essential when determining whether equipment should be repaired, replaced, modified or upgraded, particularly where obsolete components or critical plant assets are involved.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor workshop activities to ensure maintenance and repair work is performed efficiently and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support for fabrication, welding and machining issues arising within plant maintenance activities.
- Assess equipment condition and recommend suitable repair, replacement or refurbishment strategies.
- Identify obsolete equipment and coordinate appropriate replacement or life-extension actions.
- Develop corrective maintenance strategies for static equipment and workshop-related mechanical assets.
- Review proposed modifications and additions to existing mechanical systems.
- Provide technical advice to ensure plant modifications remain aligned with company engineering policies, standards and procedures.
- Prepare preventive maintenance plans for workshop equipment and associated mechanical assets.
- Implement maintenance strategies aimed at reducing equipment downtime and improving utilization of available resources.
- Review ongoing workshop repair and maintenance projects and provide engineering support until completion.
- Prepare technical procedures and methodologies for critical fabrication activities.
- Develop welding procedures and maintenance execution requirements for complex repair work.
- Prepare machining methodologies for critical components where dimensional accuracy and equipment integrity are essential.
- Verify that maintenance methods comply with applicable company standards and technical requirements.
- Support multidisciplinary workshop activities involving mechanical repair, fabrication and equipment overhaul.

- Investigate recurring equipment problems and recommend practical corrective measures.

- Participate in technical pre-qualification of suppliers, workshops and service providers.

- Maintain technical documentation associated with workshop repairs, equipment history and maintenance activities.
- Review completed workshop work for compliance with engineering specifications and expected quality.
- Support safe execution of welding, machining and fabrication work within plant environments.
- Provide technical clarification to maintenance personnel during complex repair activities.

- Contribute to maintenance planning activities for major shutdowns where workshop or static equipment support is required.

Ideal Profile
- The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor 's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent professional engineering qualification.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required, including workshop maintenance, static equipment maintenance and practical field exposure within a diversified oil and gas processing environment.
- Candidates should have strong knowledge of fabrication, welding and machining activities used in industrial maintenance.
- Experience troubleshooting static equipment problems and developing repair strategies is essential.
- Practical knowledge of preventive maintenance planning, equipment overhaul and corrective maintenance will support effective performance.
- Candidates should be comfortable preparing technical procedures and methodologies for critical workshop jobs.
