Role Context The Mechanical Technician will perform hands-on maintenance and precision repair work on critical rotating and static equipment used within LNG or ASR plant operations. The position requires strong mechanical fitting capability, accurate measurement techniques, close-tolerance work, equipment alignment, dismantling, assembly, and routine machinery condition monitoring. Reliable execution of this work directly supports plant availability, equipment integrity, safe production, and reduced mechanical downtime. The technician may work independently or alongside other maintenance personnel depending on equipment complexity and job requirements.
The position requires secondary education or an equivalent qualification supported by practical mechanical maintenance experience. Candidates should have at least 4 years of experience repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment within the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industry. Strong practical knowledge of rotating equipment is required, particularly pumps, turbines, compressors, fans, blowers, gearboxes, and associated mechanical components. Candidates should understand mechanical fitting tolerances involving shafts, bushings, wear rings, bearings, keys, running fits, shrink fits, and press fits. Experience working with heat exchangers, vessels, columns, boilers, pipework, and other static equipment will also be important. The successful candidate must be competent with precision measuring instruments and capable of performing close-tolerance maintenance and alignment work. Good spoken and written English is required for technical communication, reporting, maintenance documentation, and coordination with supervisors and other technicians. Strong coordination skills, safe working discipline, mechanical judgment, and attention to dimensional accuracy are essential.
