Key Responsibilities

• Plan workshop maintenance and repair activities according to operational priorities and approved schedules.
• Ensure appropriate manpower, equipment, tools and materials are available before maintenance work begins.

• Confirm equipment readiness before repair, installation or testing activities begin.

• Prepare maintenance progress and completion information for supervisory review.
• Identify delays affecting scheduled maintenance and coordinate appropriate corrective action.

• Examine workshop sketches to confirm dimensions, specifications and fabrication requirements.
• Verify measurements and material requirements before fabrication begins.
• Clarify drawing discrepancies before workshop personnel proceed with critical work.

• Monitor availability of parts and materials needed for scheduled maintenance.
• Prepare lists of spare parts, tools and materials required for planned jobs.
• Raise Purchase and Material requisitions where additional items are required.
• Coordinate material requests early enough to avoid maintenance delays.
• Inspect direct-charge materials received for specific maintenance activities.
• Verify stock materials against requested specifications before use.
• Confirm dimensions, quality and technical suitability of received mechanical materials.
• Report incorrect or unsuitable materials and arrange corrective action.
• Coordinate with materials and procurement functions where stock shortages affect maintenance schedules.

Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant technical field. Candidates should have practical experience in mechanical workshop maintenance, stationary equipment repair, fabrication or similar industrial maintenance activities.

A strong understanding of piping fabrication, structural work, metal craft and mechanical repair practices will support effective performance. Experience supervising technicians, craftsmen or multidisciplinary workshop teams is highly valuable.

Candidates should be comfortable reading engineering drawings, workshop sketches and dimensional specifications. Knowledge of maintenance planning, work prioritization and resource allocation is important for controlling multiple jobs simultaneously.
