Job summary

Ramboll in Dubai is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mission-critical data centre cooling design, including DLC, CDU, and chilled water systems, for UAE projects. You will own end-to-end design from concept through IFC, coordinating with electrical, structural, and BIM teams.

The role requires 8+ years in mechanical engineering with data centres, expertise in high-density AI cooling, CFD and BIM (Revit).

Qualifications

• 8+ years mechanical engineering experience in data centres
• Strong track record in chilled water plant design
• Hands-on experience with direct liquid cooling systems
• Deep understanding of high-density AI cooling (40 kW/rack and above)
• Knowledge of UAE regulatory requirements (DEWA ZLD, Dubai Universal Blueprint for AI)

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for data centres including DLC, CDU, and HVAC systems
• Perform thermal load calculations and CFD studies for density validation
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, TIA-942, and Uptime Institute guidelines
• Lead BIM coordination and review models at LOD350
• Mentor engineers and drive design quality across team
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary teams and support construction and commissioning
• Define airflow strategies and resilience standards
