Job summary

EDGE is seeking a Commodity Manager – Mechanical parts to own end-to-end sourcing for investment casting, AM, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication.

You will drive PSL, lead RFI/RFQ/RFP cycles, negotiate terms, support make-vs-buy, and manage supplier performance with a cross-functional team.

This role requires 8–12 years in aerospace/defense sourcing and AS9100D experience, with a strong technical background in casting and machining.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in sourcing/category management for investment casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication (aerospace/defense).
• Strong technical grounding in casting, machining tolerances, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Experience managing an AS9100D-qualified supply base.
• Proven negotiation, should-cost modeling, and TCO analysis skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Experience with SAP MM / Ariba or equivalent ERP/sourcing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own and refine multi-year sourcing strategy for investment casting, AM, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Apply Kraljic segmentation to identify leverage vs bottleneck positions and adjust sourcing.
• Build, maintain, and govern the PSL for the mechanical group.
• Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP cycles; negotiate price, lead time, MOQ, Incoterms, payment terms.
• Support make-vs-buy and dual-source decisions for critical parts.
• Identify and qualify new casting, machining, and sheet metal suppliers globally and regionally.
• Drive cost-down through should-cost modeling, VA/VE, and supplier-led innovation.
• Partner with Supply Chain Quality on supplier performance reviews and issue resolution.
• Provide DFM input to Engineering for castings, machined parts, and sheet metal assemblies.
• Manage capacity planning, lead-time forecasting, and ramp readiness with key suppliers.
• Maintain commodity risk registers covering single-source exposure and capacity/geopolitical risk.
• Track and report spend, savings, and TCO against KPIs (target -8% YoY).
• Present category performance updates at QBRs.
• Own supplier contracts including pricing, audit rights, and BCP clauses.
• Maintain structured daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
• Produce monthly KPI reports linked to supplier performance for audit readiness.
