Job summary

Wood in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced PMC Senior HSE Design Engineer to ensure that Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements are integrated into engineering design across the project lifecycle.

You will lead HAZID/HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, Bow-Tie, and Fire Risk studies, promote SiD and ISD, review safety deliverables and plant layouts, and mentor junior engineers across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Typically 15+ years of experience in HSE design, technical safety, process safety, loss prevention, or risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of HSE requirements into engineering design activities across the project lifecycle.
• Conduct HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, Bow-Tie, and Fire Risk assessments.
• Identify design hazards and ensure risk mitigation is incorporated into project designs.
• Promote Safety-in-Design (SiD) and Inherently Safer Design (ISD) principles.
• Review safety deliverables such as safety philosophies, loss prevention philosophies, and risk assessment reports.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to resolve safety-related design issues.
• Lead technical safety reviews, design reviews, constructability reviews, and operational readiness assessments.
