Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced PMC Senior HSE Design Engineer in Abu Dhabi to ensure HSE requirements are integrated into engineering designs across all project phases. You will identify and mitigate design risks, support safety reviews, and drive compliance with international standards.

The role requires leading HSE activities such as HAZOP/HAZID, risk modeling, and safety deliverable reviews within EPC/PMC project environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
15+ years in HSE Design, Technical Safety, Process Safety, Loss Prevention, or Risk Management in oil & gas or energy projects.
Experience in EPC/EPCM/PMC project environments across FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management and loss prevention principles.

Responsibilities

Lead integration of HSE requirements into engineering design across the project lifecycle.
Conduct HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, Bow-Tie, and Fire Risk assessments.
Identify design hazards and implement effective risk mitigation.
Promote Safety-in-Design and Inherently Safer Design.
Review safety deliverables including safety philosophies and risk reports.
Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil and operations teams.
Lead safety reviews, design reviews, constructability reviews, and operational readiness.
