Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced PMC Senior Site HSE Engineer to lead and manage all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities at the project site in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure construction, commissioning, and operations are performed safely and compliantly with policies, regulations, and industry best practices.

You will develop and implement site HSE plans, conduct inspections and audits, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement to achieve zero harm and zero LTI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or a related discipline.
• Typically 15+ years of HSE experience, with significant site-based experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, refinery, power, energy, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
• Proven experience in managing HSE activities during construction, commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and maintenance projects.
• Strong knowledge of HSE Management Systems, risk assessment methodologies, and incident prevention strategies.
• Extensive experience in Permit-to-Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification (HAZID), Risk Assessment, and Contractor HSE Management.
• Thorough understanding of international standards and regulations such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all site HSE activities during construction, commissioning, start-up, and project execution phases.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, local regulations, permits, and international standards.
• Develop, implement, and monitor project-specific HSE plans, procedures, risk assessments, and safe work practices.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety tours to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Review and approve JSA, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and PTW documentation.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor HSE performance and ensure compliance with project safety requirements.
• Lead incident, accident, near-miss, and unsafe act investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety campaigns, training programs, and awareness initiatives.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and encourage workforce participation in HSE initiatives.
• Coordinate with project management, construction teams, client representatives, and regulatory authorities on HSE matters.
