Job summary

McDermott Abu Dhabi is seeking a Principal Hook Up Engineer to lead the hook-up and commissioning activities on major EPCI projects. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, ensure compliance with API, ISO and ASME standards, and develop plans, milestones, and resource needs for safe, efficient execution.

You will generate technical documentation, manage costs and schedules, mentor engineers, and maintain strong client and vendor relationships to drive project success and future opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
• 12+ years in hook-up & commissioning within EPCI, including offshore/onshoreprojects.
• Strong knowledge of API, ISO, ASME standards and codes.
• Experience with project management methodologies and scheduling tools.
• Excellent leadership of multidisciplinary teams and high-performance delivery.
• Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with industry standards during hook-up & commissioning.
• Lead the hook-up & commissioning team; oversee project execution.
• Develop comprehensive hook-up & commissioning plans with milestones and resources.
• Generate and review technical documentation and lessons learned.
• Monitor costs, schedule, and quality; implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Arrange constructability meetings and facilitate improvements.
• Stay updated on new technologies and industry trends.
• Prepare project close-out reports.
