Job summary

Muon Space seeks a senior geospatial software engineer to develop imaging products from infrared missions. You will design scalable algorithms for mosaicking, orthorectification, and radiometric normalization and serve as product owner for customer-facing imagery products.

The role requires substantial Python development, experience with remote sensing data, and the ability to communicate design documents across distributed teams.

Qualifications

• PhD with 3+ years of industry experience, or MS with 6+ years, or BS with 8+ years.
• 5+ years building geospatial data products from remote sensing data.
• Hands-on experience with image mosaicking or orthorectification.
• Experience with real-world data from novel imaging instruments.
• Familiarity with Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF, XArray, or GDAL.
• Exceptional Python-based development and analysis skills.
• Ability to communicate technical design documents and product specifications.
• Ability to work with distributed, interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop imaging products for end-users from Muon's infrared imaging missions
• Research, design, and implement scalable algorithms for mosaicking, orthorectification, and radiometric normalization
• Act as product owner for critical customer-facing imagery products
• Author and maintain technical and customer-facing design documents
• Engage with customer technical stakeholders through meetings and program discussions
• Write production-ready code for data product pipelines and operational services
• Ensure scientific quality and quantitative validation of Orthomosaic Tile products
• Work cross-functionally with software, calibration, and instrument engineers
