YO IT Consulting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, seeks a Geospatial Specialist with advanced QGIS and PyQGIS expertise to support AI training and evaluation projects. You will build spatial databases, automate GIS workflows, and develop plugins for robust spatial analysis.

The role is remote, contract-based, offering opportunities to work with international teams on geospatial data management, map production, and reproducible analytic methods while maintaining high data accuracy.

Qualifications

Advanced professional knowledge of QGIS and geospatial analysis.
Strong experience managing spatial databases, vector data, raster data, and attribute information.
Proficiency in Python with PyQGIS workflow automation experience.
Demonstrated ability to develop QGIS plugins, scripts, processing tools, or custom extensions.
Thorough understanding of coordinate reference systems, projections, transformations, and spatial accuracy.
Experience performing geoprocessing, spatial modeling, suitability analysis, or network-related analysis.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, organize, and maintain spatial databases for geospatial projects.
Validate geometry, attributes, metadata, coordinate systems, and spatial relationships.
Identify missing records, invalid features, duplicate geometries, projection issues, and data-quality risks.
Conduct advanced geoprocessing and spatial modeling using QGIS.
Perform buffering, clipping, overlays, joins, intersections, dissolves, and proximity analysis.
Develop spatial workflows that produce reliable and reproducible analytical results.
Create, customize, and maintain QGIS plugins based on project requirements.
Use Python and PyQGIS to automate repetitive GIS tasks and processing sequences.
Write clear, maintainable, and documented scripts for spatial analysis and data management.
Troubleshoot plugin errors, processing failures, invalid geometries, and coordinate-transformation issues.
Review AI-generated GIS solutions for technical accuracy, efficiency, and practical applicability.
Evaluate spatial analysis methods and identify incorrect assumptions or unsuitable tools.
Verify that coordinate reference systems and transformations are appropriate for the project area.
Prepare professional maps for reports, presentations, dashboards, and decision support.
Apply cartographic principles involving scale, hierarchy, symbology, labeling, legends, and layout.
Adapt visualizations for technical specialists, executives, planners, and general audiences.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate operational requirements into geospatial solutions.
Explain spatial methods, assumptions, limitations, and findings in clear written language.
Document data sources, processing steps, scripts, parameters, dependencies, and quality checks.
Improve GIS workflows through automation, reusable tools, and standardized procedures.
Manage several assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting remote project deadlines.
