Job summary

Tektora in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is seeking a Senior FPGA Designer to own end-to-end software-defined radio FPGA development from design through test. This on-site role supports an established defence technology client.

You will design, simulate, code, verify FPGA projects, optimize DSP algorithms, perform timing analysis and work with RF test equipment. Relocation is supported for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant hands‑on experience.
• Proven track record in VHDL or Verilog for FPGA.
• Scripting in Tcl and Bash.
• BSc or higher in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
• Python.
• Hands‑on with RF test equipment.
• Embedded devices.
• Software‑defined radio, DSP or another RF‑adjacent domain.

Responsibilities

• Designing, simulating, coding and verifying FPGA projects for software-defined radio applications.
• Developing and optimising digital signal processing algorithms in fabric.
• Carrying out timing analysis on large, high-speed FPGA designs.
• Owning complex VHDL and Verilog projects end to end, including the documentation.
• Driving projects from study and simulation through implementation to test.
• Supporting the evaluation and introduction of control boards and platforms.
• Occasional troubleshooting and support on customer projects.
• Contributing to how the team develops, not just what it delivers.

Tektora are supporting an established defence technology client building software-defined radio products in Abu Dhabi, and are looking to speak with experienced FPGA designers for their hardware systems team.

This role is open to relocation. The client is actively considering candidates from outside the UAE and will support the move for the right person.

This role would suit an FPGA engineer who wants to own a design outright - from study and simulation through to implementation, timing closure and test - on radio products rather than generic digital hardware.

The Role

You will be involved in:
