2. JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
The Senior Engineer – Engineering Production Support is responsible for independently providing technical engineering support for assigned engine programs, including interpretation of OEM documentation, preparation of engineering work instructions and technical reports, and resolution of routine to moderately complex technical issues encountered during engine overhaul and repair activities.
The role ensures ongoing compliance with airworthiness and quality requirements, supports shop floor operations and customer deliverables, and contributes to continuous improvement of engineering processes. The Senior Engineer operates with limited supervision, escalating complex or non-standard engineering matters to higher authority as required.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Engine Technical Support
- Review engine workscope, technical requirements, and customer inputs in line with OEM manuals and approved data.
- Prepare and update Engine Work Instructions, repair task definitions, and workscope documents for assigned engine types.
- Provide technical recommendations to support effective execution of engine shop activities.
2. OEM Documentation and Technical Authority Support (20%)
- Review, interpret, and implement OEM documentation including SBs, ADs, SILs, Repair Memos, and Engineering Letters.
- Prepare engineering responses, technical notices, and implementation plans under approved engineering procedures.
- Support impact assessment of OEM changes on shop capability, tooling, and processes.
3. Technical Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and review engine technical reports including Induction, Tear Down, and Final Reports.
- Analyze technical findings and engine condition data to support troubleshooting, defect analysis, and root cause investigations.
- Support corrective and preventive action development aimed at quality and turnaround time improvement.
4. Shop Floor and Customer Technical Support
- Act as a first-line engineering focal point for shop floor technical queries within assigned scope.
- Provide timely technical clarifications, task resolutions, and engineering guidance during engine build and repair.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Planning, Quality, Materials, and Production) to support smooth engine workflow.
5. Compliance, Quality, and Documentation Control
- Ensure engineering activities comply with regulatory, OEM, and company quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, technical logs, and document traceability in line with regulatory standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing technical clarification and documented evidence when required.
6. Continuous Improvement and Professional Development
- Participate in internal improvement initiatives related to engineering efficiency, documentation quality, and process optimization.
- Keep updated with latest OEM, regulatory, and industry developments relevant to assigned engine programs.
- Share technical knowledge and lessons learned within the engineering and production support team.
9. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
Minimum Qualifications:
(Education/Certification/Licensure/Professional Membership)
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
Minimum Experience:
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in Aviation, preferably within an Engine MRO environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on engineering support experience on at least one major engine program.
- Exposure to one or more of the following engine types is required:
- V2500
- Trent 700
- GEnx
- LEAP
