Role Context This position provides technical leadership for electrical and instrumentation maintenance across complex oil and gas facilities. The Senior Engineer develops maintenance strategies, reviews equipment reliability, supports major shutdowns, resolves chronic technical problems, and manages modernization initiatives for aging or obsolete systems. The role works closely with Operations, Asset Integrity, reliability specialists, contractors, consultants, and ADNOC Group companies to improve plant availability and ensure maintenance activities are executed in accordance with technical standards, HSE requirements, approved budgets, and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, and optimize maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation equipment and systems.
  • Apply Reliability Centered Maintenance, Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis, and other structured methodologies to improve equipment reliability and plant availability.
  • Evaluate existing maintenance strategies and identify opportunities to reduce downtime, maintenance cost, and recurring failures.
  • Establish maintenance execution assurance programs for electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Monitor maintenance performance and develop corrective or improvement action plans where required.
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for maintenance, troubleshooting, modernization, and specialist service activities.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of contractor and service provider submissions.
  • Support establishment of contracts and service orders required for electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and review Method Statements for major planned maintenance and technical intervention work.
  • Manage execution of complex troubleshooting and planned maintenance activities.
  • Review existing maintenance practices and introduce modern methodologies that improve productivity and equipment performance.
  • Lead or support Root Cause Analysis investigations involving chronic electrical and instrumentation problems.
  • Develop practical corrective actions following equipment failures and recurring technical issues.
  • Provide specialist engineering support for replacement or modernization of obsolete electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Assess existing technologies and determine appropriate upgrade or modification requirements.
  • Prepare technical scopes for equipment modernization and system upgrade projects.
  • Support execution and commissioning of modification and upgrade works within existing operating facilities.
  • Ensure critical tools, test equipment, and spare parts are identified and available to support plant reliability.
  • Review critical spare requirements and support cost-effective inventory planning.
  • Develop major shutdown maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Integrate discipline shutdown activities into overall plant turnaround and major shutdown plans.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities to ensure shutdown scope is achievable within approved schedules.
  • Provide technical support during development, implementation, and commissioning of new projects.
  • Review project requirements to ensure maintainability, reliability, cost optimization, and compliance with applicable technical standards.
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities involving electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
  • Drive adoption of artificial intelligence and predictive maintenance tools for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Apply condition-based and predictive maintenance approaches to improve power and control system reliability.
  • Evaluate equipment condition data and reliability trends to support timely maintenance intervention.
  • Contribute to digitalization initiatives that improve maintenance decision-making and asset performance.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned technical activities to meet section objectives.
  • Train and develop assigned personnel in electrical and instrumentation maintenance practices.

Ideal Profile

The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor 's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or an equivalent professional qualification. Candidates should bring 8-12 years of relevant experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within a large industrial organization, preferably within the oil and gas industry. Strong practical knowledge of oil and gas plant operations, maintenance workflows, equipment reliability, and site processes is required. The role requires experience in maintenance strategy development, troubleshooting, major shutdown planning, Root Cause Analysis, equipment modernization, contractor management, predictive maintenance, and technical evaluation. Hands-on familiarity with Maximo, SAP, or another Computerized Maintenance Management System is important. Candidates should be comfortable working with maintenance and reliability KPIs and supporting their achievement through structured planning and performance improvement. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, together with very good written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic would be advantageous. The successful candidate should also demonstrate the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
