Job summary

EDGE Group in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to architect and implement complex embedded systems, including bare-metal firmware for Cortex‑M MCUs and Linux drivers. You will work with RTOS, multimedia stacks (V4L2, GStreamer, FFmpeg) and Jetson platforms, while partnering with peers to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science, electronics or software engineering.
• 15+ years of embedded software engineering experience with C and C++.
• Strong understanding of ARM64 and Cortex-M architectures.
• Expertise in Linux driver and kernel development.
• Experience with bare-metal firmware for STM32, NXP LPC and PIC families.
• Experience with RTOS like FreeRTOS, mbed or ThreadX on microcontrollers.
• Knowledge of I2C, UART, SPI and CAN in Linux and MCUs.
• Experience with Jetson Linux BSP and NVIDIA JetPack SDK (kernel, CUDA, cuDNN, TensorRT).
• Familiarity with V4L2, GStreamer and FFmpeg.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and ability to collaborate with engineers and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design complex embedded systems with real-time constraints.
• Develop and maintain bare-metal firmware for Cortex-M MCUs.
• Develop firmware with RTOS such as FreeRTOS, mbed or ThreadX.
• Implement Linux drivers and kernel modules for custom hardware.
• Debug in Linux (gdb) and with MCUs (st-link, J-Link).
• Develop user-space apps using V4L2, GStreamer and FFmpeg for media processing.
• Optimize software with Jetson Linux BSP and NVIDIA JetPack components.
• Integrate I2C/UART/SPI/CAN in Linux and MCU environments.
• Implement Linux client/server over UDP/TCP/IP.
• Lead code reviews, maintain code quality and coding standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.
• Stay current with embedded tech advancements and best practices.
• Use Git or SVN for version control; enforce commenting and bug tracking.
• Conduct testing and troubleshooting with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
