Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for an onsite role to lead design and project delivery for data center and critical facilities.

The candidate will be site-based, with significant experience, manage junior engineers, and interact with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure design intent and construction standards are met.

Qualifications

• Significant site experience in Data Center or Critical Facilities projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an Accredited Institution.
• 10 years' experience in a consulting firm; senior level in the MEP engineering industry.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and project team members.
• Design large projects, prepare reports and specifications, and provide technical leadership.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, material submissions, and variations.
• Coordinate construction activities with civil, electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers.
• Conduct periodic on-site inspections to ensure standards and design intent.
• Develop Punch Lists and ensure timely contractor action.
• Support facility certification with Uptime Institute.
• Assist in final handover of the facility to the Client.

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer - Onsite to join our team in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for representing the Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. You will be responsible for designing large projects, preparing reports and specifications, and providing a high level of technical leadership.

• Represents Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects and other project team members
• Performs calculations, equipment verification, equipment specification, system design, system layout, field investigation, and construction administration
• Participates in projects weekly and monthly meetings with contractors, sub- contractors and the Client.
• Review shop drawings consistent with the design documents and local codes / standards (DEWA/DM/ADM/ADDC etc)
• Coordinate construction activities with the civil, electrical; mechanical and controls engineers; document controllers and CAD operators.
• Preparation of site instructions to contractors in accordance with the contract agreement.
• Participates in QA/QC process of contractor staff
• Review and approve contractor’s submissions including RFI’s, Material Submissions, Shop Drawings, Method Statements and Variations.
• Review and verify Drawing Submissions, 0&M documents, As-built drawings with the engineering management team and ensure the constructed facility is built in accordance with the final signed drawing set and the design intent.
• Conduct regular periodic inspections of work performed on‑site to ensure good practice, international standards and the design specifications and that materials meet the submission requirements.
• Develop Punch Lists to register all defects and shortcomings in construction and that the contractor actions all issues and defects in a timely manner.
• Any other activity as agreed between the Client and Syska Hennessy not identified in the signed agreement and ‘ad‑hoc’ advise to the Client on construction related matters.
• Support the constructed Facility certification process, where applicable, by Uptime institute.
• Support in the final handing over of the facility with the Client.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an Accredited Institution
• 10 years' experience working in a consulting firm, this is a Senior level role that requires a background in the MEP Engineering Industry
