Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Architect - Onsite with significant site experience to lead Data Centre or critical facilities projects.

The role is site-based, coordinating with client, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure design intent and on-time delivery. The candidate will mentor junior engineers and manage RFIs, ensuring UAE codes and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering or architectural consultancy.
• Strong site supervision and construction administration experience.
• Experience on Data Centre, mission-critical or large-scale industrial projects is required.
• Good understanding of architectural coordination with MEP and structural systems.
• Experience reviewing shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and method statements.
• Familiarity with UAE codes, authority requirements and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Represent Syska on site for all architectural matters and coordinate with client, contractor and project team.
• Review architectural shop drawings, submittals, samples, method statements and RFIs.
• Carry out regular site inspections and ensure works meet drawings, specs and codes.
• Monitor quality and progress of architectural works and address non-compliances.
• Coordinate architectural works with other disciplines to resolve site issues.
• Review contractor proposals and provide technical comments and recommendations.
• Attend site and progress meetings with client, contractors and stakeholders.
• Review RFIs and clarify design requirements where required.
• Review finishes, doors, partitions, ceilings and other architectural works for Data Centre facilities.
• Prepare and follow up on snag/punch lists and close outstanding items.
• Review as-built drawings, O&M docs and close-out submissions.
• Support testing, inspections, authority approvals and handover.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Architect, you will be part of the site supervision team for a Data Centre project, working closely with the client, contractors, consultants and other engineering disciplines to ensure the architectural works are delivered in line with the approved design and project requirements.

• Represent Syska on site for all architectural matters and coordinate with the client, contractor and project team.
• Review architectural shop drawings, material submittals, samples, method statements and RFIs.
• Carry out regular site inspections and ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and applicable codes and standards.
• Monitor the quality and progress of architectural works and raise any concerns or non-compliances identified on site.
• Coordinate architectural works with structural, civil, MEP, ELV and other disciplines to resolve site and coordination issues.
• Review contractor proposals and provide technical comments and recommendations.
• Attend site, technical and progress meetings with the client, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Review and respond to architectural RFIs and clarify design requirements where required.
• Review finishes, doors, partitions, ceilings, raised floors, waterproofing, roofing and other architectural works relevant to Data Centre facilities.
• Prepare and follow up on snag/punch lists and ensure outstanding items are properly closed.
• Review as-built drawings, O&M documentation and other close-out submissions.
• Support testing, inspections, authority approvals and project handover as required.
• Ensure the completed works maintain the original design intent and meet the operational requirements of the Data Centre.
• Support the project team with any architectural or construction-related matters throughout the project.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within an engineering or architectural consultancy.
• Strong site supervision and construction administration experience.
• Previous experience on Data Centre, mission-critical or large-scale industrial projects is required.
• Good understanding of architectural coordination with MEP and structural systems.
• Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs and method statements.
• Familiarity with UAE codes, authority requirements and construction practices.
• Candidates currently based in the UAE are preferred.
