Job summary

Al-Futtaim Group is seeking a Data Protection Engineer to safeguard data protection platforms across Cloud and On-Prem environments. You will oversee backup operations globally, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive lifecycle management of backup systems for business continuity.

You will collaborate with vendors, standardize solutions across regions, and implement encryption and immutable storage to protect critical data and support rapid recovery.

Qualifications

• Hands-on backup/recovery for PaaS workloads (Azure SQL and managed services).
• AKS and containerized app backup experience.
• Strong disaster recovery, cyber resilience, backup architecture, and data lifecycle knowledge.
• Ability to enforce compliant backup policies with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage backup/recovery across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Engage vendors for health checks and apply best-practice recommendations.
• Modernize cloud backups to cover modern workloads and standardize across regions.
• Manage NetBackup lifecycle, including hardware and software upgrades.
• Ensure availability, performance, security, and business continuity of backup platforms.
• Define retention policies with application stakeholders and review backed-up data regularly.
• Produce backup reports and act on failures or issues.
• Test backup integrity and confirm RTO/RPO compliance.
