Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Construction Supervisor – Coating & Painting to lead surface preparation, blasting, coating and painting activities on Oil & Gas / Petrochemical projects in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure compliance with approved specifications, ITPs and HSE standards while coordinating with multi-discipline teams.

The role requires a Diploma in Engineering and at least 15 years in Oil & Gas with GCC experience; UAE nationals have 12+ years.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering from an accredited institute.
• Minimum of fifteen (15+) years of experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including at least five (5) years in GCC region.
• Must have at least five (5) years in a similar position for major oil & gas / marine construction projects, including GCC projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day coating activities (surface preparation, blasting, painting, protective coating) at site and yards.
• Ensure works comply with project specifications, procedures, ITPs and international standards.
• Monitor surface cleanliness, coating thickness (DFT/WFT) and curing requirements.
• Coordinate with various disciplines to ensure proper sequencing and handover documentation.
• Identify defects and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and QA/QC.

Job Purpose

The Senior Construction Supervisor – Coating & Painting is responsible for supervising and coordinating surface preparation, protective coating, painting and related activities for Oil & Gas / Petrochemical projects, ensuring compliance with approved specifications, quality requirements, HSE standards and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day surface preparation, blasting, painting and protective coating activities at site, fabrication yards and other project locations.
• Ensure coating and painting works are performed in accordance with approved project specifications, procedures, method statements, ITPs and applicable international standards.
• Supervise surface preparation activities including abrasive blasting, power-tool cleaning and other approved preparation methods.
• Monitor application of primers, intermediate coats, finish coats, specialized protective coatings and fireproofing/coating systems as applicable.
• Verify environmental conditions including surface temperature, ambient temperature, relative humidity and dew point before and during coating application.
• Ensure required surface cleanliness, surface profile, coating thickness and curing requirements are achieved.
• Monitor Dry Film Thickness (DFT), Wet Film Thickness (WFT), adhesion, holiday detection and other required coating inspections/tests.
• Ensure correct handling, storage, mixing, application and shelf-life control of paints and coating materials.
• Supervise coating activities for piping, equipment, tanks, structural steel, pipe racks, vessels and other project facilities.
• Coordinate coating requirements related to field joints, weld areas, repairs, touch-ups and final reinstatement.
• Monitor contractor manpower, equipment, productivity and progress against the approved construction schedule.
• Coordinate with construction, piping, mechanical, structural, QA/QC, HSE and commissioning teams to ensure proper sequencing of activities.
• Identify coating defects, construction constraints and quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and QA/QC.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements for abrasive blasting, painting, chemical handling, confined-space activities, scaffolding and working at height.
• Coordinate inspections, RFIs, NCR resolution, punch-list clearance and completion documentation.
• Participate in construction progress meetings and provide updates on progress, constraints and recovery requirements.
• Ensure coating inspection reports, material records, batch certificates, test reports and final documentation are properly maintained.
• Support mechanical completion, punch-list closeout and final handover of completed facilities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institute
• Minimum of fifteen (15+) years (12 years for UAE Nationals) of experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry including minimum five (5) years in GCC region.
• Specific experience or qualification or training or technical certificate shall be provided if required and as applicable.
• Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position for major oil & gas / Marine Construction projects including minimum three (3) years projects in GCC region.
