Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Construction Supervisor – Instrumentation & Control to lead I&C construction on Oil & Gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role emphasizes safety, adherence to approved drawings, and timely execution with strong coordination across disciplines.

You will supervise field instrument installations, control systems, calibration, testing, and commissioning readiness while ensuring compliance with HSE standards and project specifications. GCC experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institute.
• Minimum of fifteen (15+) years of experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries, including minimum five (5) years in GCC region.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day Instrumentation and Control construction activities at site.
• Supervise installation of field instruments, control valves, analyzers, junction boxes, instrument panels, cabinets, tubing, cable trays and associated I&C systems.
• Monitor construction activities related to DCS, ESD, F&G, PLC, SCADA and other control and safety systems.
• Ensure works are executed per IFC drawings, P&IDs, instrument layouts, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, cable schedules and ITPs.
• Supervise instrument cable laying, glanding, termination, tubing installation, calibration and testing activities.
• Coordinate instrument calibration, loop checking, functional testing, cause-and-effect testing and system readiness for commissioning.
• Ensure hazardous-area instrument installations comply with Ex requirements and project specifications.
• Monitor contractor manpower, equipment, productivity and progress against the schedule.
• Coordinate I&C interfaces with electrical, process, piping, mechanical, telecom, engineering and commissioning teams.

Job Purpose

The Senior Construction Supervisor – I&C is responsible for supervising and coordinating Instrumentation and Control construction activities for Oil & Gas projects, ensuring safe and timely execution in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, construction schedules, and HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day Instrumentation and Control construction activities at site.
• Supervise installation of field instruments, control valves, analyzers, junction boxes, instrument panels, cabinets, tubing, cable trays and associated I&C systems.
• Monitor construction activities associated with DCS, ESD, F&G, PLC, SCADA and other control and safety systems.
• Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved IFC drawings, P&IDs, instrument layouts, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, cable schedules, specifications, method statements and ITPs.
• Supervise instrument cable laying, glanding, termination, tubing installation, calibration and testing activities.
• Coordinate instrument calibration, loop checking, functional testing, cause-and-effect testing and system readiness for commissioning.
• Ensure hazardous-area instrument installations comply with applicable Ex requirements and project specifications.
• Monitor contractor manpower, equipment, productivity and construction progress against the approved schedule.
• Coordinate I&C interfaces with electrical, process, piping, mechanical, telecom, engineering and commissioning teams.
• Identify site constraints, material shortages, design discrepancies and interface issues and coordinate their timely resolution.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections, RFIs, NCR resolution, punch-list clearance and completion documentation.
• Ensure strict compliance with PTW, LOTO and other project HSE requirements during construction and testing activities.
• Review contractor work fronts and priorities to ensure achievement of construction and mechanical completion milestones.
• Participate in construction progress meetings and report progress, constraints, risks and recovery requirements.
• Support system/subsystem walkdowns, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning and final handover.
• Ensure red-line drawings, inspection records, test reports and as-built documentation are properly maintained.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institute
• Minimum of fifteen (15+) years (12 years for UAE Nationals) of experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry including minimum five (5) years in GCC region.
• Specific experience or qualification or training or technical certificate shall be provided if required and as applicable.
• Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar position for major oil & gas / Marine Construction projects including minimum three (3) years projects in GCC region.
