Job summary

Worley is seeking a Construction Superintendent to oversee on-site construction activities in a major oil and gas or petrochemical project. You will supervise day-to-day operations, coordinate multi-discipline teams, ensure adherence to IFC drawings, specs, procedures and safety standards, and support timely handover to pre-commissioning.

Ideal candidates bring 15+ years in the field, with GCC experience and EPC/PMC exposure, plus strong leadership and coordination skills to manage multiple

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
• 15+ years of Oil & Gas or Petrochemical experience; at least 5 years in GCC.
• Significant site construction supervision and contractor management experience.
• EPC/PMC experience on large-scale projects; ADNOC exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day construction activities across assigned work areas and disciplines.
• Ensure activities follow approved drawings, specs, method statements, ITPs and standards.
• Coordinate with contractors, QA/QC, HSE, planning and other project teams.
• Monitor progress against the schedule and address delays or recoveries.
• Review construction plans, manpower, equipment, and resource requirements.
• Ensure availability of drawings, materials, permits, and access before starting work.
• Conduct site inspections and enforce HSE requirements and safe practices.
• Participate in toolbox talks, progress meetings and risk assessments.
• Monitor contractor productivity and propose improvements.
• Coordinate interfaces between civil, structural, mechanical, piping, E&I and other disciplines.
• Resolve site construction issues with engineering and stakeholders.
• Support QA/QC and resolution of NCRs, punch items, and queries.
• Assist in handover to pre-commissioning and commissioning teams.

Job Purpose:
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for supervising and coordinating construction activities at site to ensure that the works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project procedures, quality requirements, and the agreed project schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day construction activities across assigned work areas and disciplines.
• Ensure construction activities are performed in accordance with approved IFC drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, procedures, and applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate with contractors/subcontractors, engineering, QA/QC, HSE, planning, commissioning, and other project teams.
• Monitor construction progress against the approved schedule and identify delays, constraints, and potential recovery actions.
• Review contractors' construction plans, work fronts, manpower deployment, equipment, and resource requirements.
• Ensure availability of approved drawings, materials, equipment, permits, and access before commencement of activities.
• Conduct regular site inspections and ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and safe working practices.
• Participate in toolbox talks, site coordination meetings, progress meetings, constructability reviews, and risk assessments as required.
• Monitor contractor productivity and recommend measures to improve construction performance.
• Coordinate interfaces between civil, structural, mechanical, piping, E&I, and other disciplines.
• Identify and resolve site construction issues in coordination with engineering and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure proper implementation of QA/QC requirements and support resolution of NCRs, punch items, and site technical queries.
• Monitor completion of systems/subsystems and coordinate construction handover to pre-commissioning and commissioning teams.
• Support mechanical completion, punch-list clearance, system turnover, and final project handover.
• Maintain appropriate construction records and provide daily/weekly progress and status reports to project management.
• Ensure contractors comply with contractual requirements, approved procedures, and project specifications.

Qualifications & Experience

• A bachelor's degree in relevant engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years (12 years for UAE Nationals) of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including minimum (5) years in GCC region.
• Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a similar position in mega Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
• Significant experience in site construction supervision and contractor management.
• EPC/PMC experience on large-scale projects is required.
• Experience in ADNOC or similar major operator projects is required.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, HSE requirements, quality requirements, and project execution practices.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, construction schedules, and commissioning interfaces.
• Strong leadership, coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple contractors and construction work fronts in a challenging site environment.
