Job summary

SEHA - Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. in Abu Dhabi seeks a Senior Charge Nurse to lead all nurses in a ward/unit, oversee bed allocation and staff skill mix, and coordinate hospital services during shifts.

You will collaborate with non-nursing colleagues, chair interdisciplinary groups when needed, monitor patient flow and care quality, and ensure documentation and infection control standards are upheld.

Qualifications

• Leadership and coordination of nursing staff within ward/unit.
• Experience in clinical leadership and teamwork.
• Understanding of patient care standards and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for nursing team within ward/unit and report issues to senior charge nurse.
• Collaborates with non-nursing departments to resolve issues affecting patient care.
• Chairs/interimly leads interdisciplinary committees or task forces as needed.
• Facilitates effective patient flow utilizing bed capacity and staffing resources.
• Monitors staff skill mix and aligns staffing to patient acuity.
• Builds relationships to support interdisciplinary planning and outcomes.
• Promotes continuity of care and discharge planning.
• Ensures nursing documentation meets organizational standards.
• Performs rounds to identify problems and guide clinical/operational management.
• Communicates with internal/external health care providers.
• Maintains confidentiality and security of patient information.
• Facilitates communication between patient, family, and care team.
• Uses IT to access, transmit and produce information as necessary.
• Supports a culture of performance improvement and accreditation activities.
• Monitors quality of nursing care and KPI/clinical indicators.
• Coordinates incidents reporting after hours for corrective action.
• Minimizes infection risks and enforces infection control policies.
• Ensures compliance with patient safety goals.
• Engages in staff development and education.
• Maintains professional development portfolio.
