Job summary

Dubizzle, part of Bayut & dubizzle, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I - Backend to scale backend services for millions of monthly active users. You will liaise with backend engineers, QA, design, and Tech Team Leads to advance our stack.

The role emphasizes reliability, REST APIs, code reviews, mentorship, and end-to-end lifecycle. A strong background in Python (Django), AWS, Kubernetes, Docker and large-scale web products is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred.
• 6+ years backend Python (Django) experience.
• Experience with cloud-hosted infrastructure and AWS preferred.
• Prior experience with Kubernetes & Docker preferred.
• Experience with SOA, distributed systems, search infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of design patterns: asynchronous programming, queuing, logging, security and persistence.
• Mastery of caching layers, including memcached.
• Experience with CI/CD and testing methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Understand codebase and tech stack across weeks.
• Lead feature planning and release roll-out strategies.
• Research industry trends as part of daily work.
• Create unit tests and maintain code quality.
• Design and deliver REST-based APIs and SOA solutions.
• Mentor peers and review major pull requests.
