Job summary

Bayut & dubizzle is hiring a Senior Software Engineer I - Backend to scale our backend services for millions of users. You will partner with QA, design, and tech leads to advance the stack and ensure reliability across multiple countries.

You will lead feature planning, craft rollout strategies, write robust code, build RESTful APIs, and mentor peers while driving overall performance and SOA alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering preferred.
• 6+ years of professional back-end software engineering experience in Python (Django).
• Experience with cloud-hosted infrastructure and AWS preferred.
• Prior experience with Kubernetes & Docker will earn brownie points.
• Experience with high-traffic and large-scale web products is preferred.
• Experience with web infrastructure, SOA, distributed systems, performance analysis, and search infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of design patterns including asynchronous programming, queuing, logging, security and persistence.
• Mastery of caching layers and strategies, including memcached.
• Strong CI/CD and testing practices.
• Ability to manage the full software development life cycle end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Gather an up-to-date, in-depth understanding of the codebase and stack.
• Lead planning sessions around new features and rollout strategies.
• Write and maintain high-quality code following established practices.
• Build REST-based APIs and contribute to SOA architecture.
• Mentor peers and review major pull requests to set standards.
• Take ownership of end-to-end software delivery and post-release maintenance.
• Push for reliability and performance improvements across platforms.
