Job summary

GS1 UAE in Dubai seeks a Python Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend applications and APIs, focusing on robust services, database integration, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Python and Django/FastAPI/Flask, REST APIs, SQL databases, cloud technologies, and development best practices, with data and supply‑chain platforms experience being highly relevant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering/IT or related field.
• 3–6 years of professional Python backend experience.
• Strong Python and Django, FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks.
• Strong experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Understanding of cloud platforms and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python.
• Build robust and reusable backend services, modules, and components.
• Develop clean, well‑documented code following software engineering best practices.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable backend solutions.
• Troubleshoot issues and optimize backend performance.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs for internal and external applications.
• Integrate third‑party APIs and external systems with backend platforms.
• Design database schemas and data models; optimize queries and indexes.
• Develop backend services supporting product information, master data, and digital platforms.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless API integration.
• Deploy and maintain backend applications in cloud or on‑prem environments.
• Work with AWS/Azure/Google Cloud and CI/CD pipelines; monitor production.
