Job summary

Mubadala is seeking a seasoned financial controller for its Abu Dhabi team to support corporate reporting, budgeting and governance across platforms and non-investment entities. The role involves planning cycles, variance analysis and consolidations, with responsibility for ICFR controls and outsourced accounting operations.

You will collaborate with Platforms/Units, ensure timely month-end close, and provide senior management with data-driven insights and analysis.

Qualifications

What you will do

Job Purpose

• Support the Corporate Reporting team in delivering accurate and timely management reporting, budget monitoring and variance analysis across assigned Platforms/Units and non-investment entities.
• Execute periodic financial planning and budgeting activities, including preparation and consolidation of business plan and budget submissions in line with guidance.
• Partner with assigned Platforms to provide financial insight and decision-support, and contribute to reporting system enhancements and continuous process improvement.
• Manage the outsourced bookkeeping operations across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Cash Management, ensuring service outputs are delivered accurately, on time and in line with agreed controls and month-end close timelines.
• Manage the ICFR requirements for the unit, including periodic access-control reviews and the management and maintenance of control evidence across each area of responsibility.

Key Accountabilities

Management Reporting & Budget Monitoring

• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting outputs for assigned Platforms/Units and non-investment entities, including data validation, reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Review and post accrual and reclassification journals in line with the reporting timelines, and update financial forecasts as required.
• Perform periodic budget monitoring against approved budgets, preparing variance analysis and escalating issues on a timely basis.
• Prepare and share monthly reporting packs with the respective management teams, ensuring accuracy, completeness and consistency of reported data.
• Provide financial insight and decision-support to assigned Platforms/Units management teams, and respond to budget, reporting and financial queries.

Financial Planning & Budgeting

• Support the annual business planning cycle for Platforms, in line with group governance and consolidation requirements.
• Assist in preparing budget submissions and incorporating the budget impact.
• Support the review and sign-off process of budget submissions, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with approved guidance.
• Ensure budget movements and revisions are documented and approved prior to implementation.

Governance of Outsourced Accounting Operations

• Manage the outsourced bookkeeping operations on a day-to-day basis, overseeing service delivery, month-end close and the operation of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Cash Management areas against agreed timelines, quality standards and controls.
• Review outputs from the outsourced provider, including journals, reconciliations and period-close deliverables, escalating exceptions on a timely basis.
• Manage the commercial and service-level aspects of the outsourced bookkeeping operations, applying a sound understanding of each area (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Cash Management) and the end-to-end month-end close process.
• Maintain governance documentation, checklists and evidence of review to support a robust control environment.
• Coordinate with the provider and internal teams to resolve issues and support continuous improvement of outsourced processes.

ICFR Requirements & System Access Controls

• Perform periodic ICFR system access-control reviews across relevant finance systems (e.g. Oracle Fusion and Oracle EPM), validating user access against approved roles.
• Identify, document and follow up on access exceptions and segregation-of-duties conflicts, escalating unresolved items on a timely basis.
• Maintain audit-ready working papers evidencing the completion and outcomes of access-control reviews.
• Manage the ICFR requirements for the unit, managing and maintaining control evidence for each area of responsibility and ensuring it is complete, current and readily available for review.

Systems & Process Support

• Support system-related initiatives and data checks for reporting enhancements to improve data quality, reduce manual adjustments and stabilise reporting outputs.
• Maintain process documentation, reconciliation checklists and audit-ready working papers, and undertake ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required by the Corporate Reporting team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration.
• Qualified accountant holding a recognised professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CA, or CPA)

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 8+ years relevant finance experience in management reporting, budgeting, accounting or financial control, including audit or assurance experience and demonstrated ownership of reporting and budgeting cycles and month-end close. Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion and Oracle EPM (or equivalent ERP and planning systems) is preferred

Knowledge

• Working knowledge of preparing management reports and reporting packs for review by senior stakeholders
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and analytical skills, with the ability to validate data and explain variances
• Understanding of financial statement preparation, consolidation and disclosure requirements
• Audit or assurance experience, with a sound understanding of month-end close and financial control
• Knowledge of Oracle Fusion and Oracle EPM platforms is an advantage
