The Senior Accountant is the sole finance team member and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and independently manages the Company’s day-to-day finance activities, including accounting, financial reporting, treasury, audit support and taxation. The role also supports the CFO with project finance and corporate governance matters.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional accounting qualifications such as CA, ACCA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, preferably including experience in the UAE.
- Strong practical experience in month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, audit coordination and taxation.
- Good knowledge of IFRS and sound understanding of accounting controls and procedures.
- Practical knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including financial analysis, reconciliations, reporting and working with large datasets.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems; experience with Microsoft dynamics 365 would be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to interact effectively with auditors, banks, tax advisers and other external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables and manage multiple deadlines in a standalone finance role.
Job Description:
accounting and Financial Reporting
- Independently manage the Company’s day-to‑day accounting activities, including sales, purchases, receipts, payments, petty cash and other financial transactions, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and applicable tax requirements.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including payroll accounting, accruals, journal entries, reconciliations and other closing adjustments.
- Maintain complete, accurate and properly documented accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets, analyse variances and provide timely explanations to management.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, management reports and analyses within agreed reporting timelines.
- Ensure compliance with the financial reporting requirements of shareholders, including timely submission of required financial information and reports.
- Respond promptly and accurately to accounting and financial information requests from management and shareholders.
- Prepare the Company’s annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and follow the year-end closing process.
- Support the CFO in ensuring compliance with applicable financial, regulatory and statutory requirements.
Audit and Taxation
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparation of schedules, supporting documentation and responses to audit queries, and follow up on audit findings as required.
- Prepare and submit VAT, Corporate Tax and other applicable tax returns accurately and within statutory deadlines.
- Ensure timely payment of applicable taxes and maintain appropriate supporting records and reconciliations.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisers and other professional advisers, as required.
Budgeting, Forecasting and Cash Flow
- Assist the CFO in the preparation of the annual budget and Medium-Term Plans (MTP).
- Upload and maintain approved budgets and forecasts in shareholder reporting tools and templates.
- Maintain and update the Company’s financial forecasting model, including monthly rolling forecasts.
- Prepare and regularly update cash flow forecasts and projections, highlighting significant movements, funding requirements and potential shortfalls.
- Monitor actual financial performance against budget and forecast and support the CFO with relevant analysis.
Internal Controls and Compliance
- Take the lead in implementing and maintaining the Company’s internal control review framework, including documentation of key financial controls and processes.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, processes and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to the Company’s delegation of authority, financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Support the CFO in addressing internal control recommendations arising from internal and external reviews.
Other Responsibilities
- Provide financial and analytical support to the CFO on project finance, corporate governance and other finance-related matters, as required.
- Liaise, where required, with shareholders, banks, auditors, tax advisers and other external stakeholders on finance-related matters.
- Undertake ad hoc financial analyses, reports and other assignments as requested by the CFO or CEO.
- Comply with and uphold all Company policies, procedures and governance requirements.
- Perform other duties reasonably associated with the position and the requirements of a standalone finance function.
