Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver inspiring Secondary English lessons that develop strong literacy, language, literature, and communication skills.
• Teach English through structured lessons that support curriculum standards, student progress, and age‑appropriate academic challenge.
• Encourage students to analyse texts, write with clarity, speak confidently, and express ideas with creativity and accuracy.
• Create an inclusive classroom culture built on curiosity, confidence, creativity, respect, and kindness.
• Differentiate learning activities to meet the needs of students with varied abilities, language levels, and learning styles.
• Use assessment, feedback, and progress data to guide teaching and support individual student development.
• Integrate digital tools, reading strategies, writing tasks, discussion, and project‑based activities to enrich learning.
• Work with colleagues to improve curriculum planning, resources, assessments, and student support strategies.
• Communicate professionally with parents about student progress, wellbeing, behaviour, and academic targets.
• Contribute to school events, enrichment activities, sustainability initiatives, assemblies, and wider community programmes.
• Participate in CPD, department meetings, curriculum reviews, and professional learning opportunities.
• Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and GEMS school policies at all times.

Qualifications
