Job summary

NMDC Energy is seeking a seasoned engineer with significant sea-going experience and a track record as a 2nd Engineer, including DP pipelayer, cable laying and heavy lift pipeline competencies.

The role involves leading engine room operations, coordinating with the Chief Engineer, and ensuring reliable maintenance of all machinery and safety systems on board vessels. A proactive, collaborative mindset is essential for success in this demanding maritime environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years sea-going experience.
• At least 2 years in a 2nd Engineer rank.
• Experience with DP Pipelayer operations, cable laying, and heavy lift pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day engine room operations and assist the Chief Engineer in vessel/tug movements and operations in line with NMDC regulations and procedures.
• Ensure maintenance of all engine room and deck machinery for smooth operations.
• Verify that all machinery and safety systems function safely, efficiently and within specified parameters.
• Own objectives and contribute to division goals; respond to internal and external stakeholders' needs.
• Build and maintain important client and contractor relations and proactively address external client needs.

Job description

Experience: Minimum 5 years sea going experience and 2 years rank experience as 2nd Engineer with DP Pipelayer/Cable laying/Heavy Lift pipeline experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day engine room operation, Assisting the Chief Engineer in all day-to-day running of vessel/tug movements/activities/operations in accordance with NMDC regulations, policies and operating procedures
• Ensure the maintenance of all the engine room and deck machinery for smooth running of operations
• Responsible to make sure all the machineries and safety systems are working safely, efficiently and within the provided parameters
• Take ownership of own objectives agreed upon and of the objectives of the division
• Investigate, understand and respond to the needs of internal and external stakeholders
• Build and maintain strategically important client and contractor relations
• Proactively serve and constructively respond to external client needs in order to meet business priorities
• Initiate and stimulate teaming: horizontal (between departments) and vertical (within the different departments) cooperation in the organization
• Show respect, flexibility and loyalty towards colleagues throughout the organization
• Communicate clearly and succinctly orally and in writing. Adapt oral and written communication style to the audience
