Job summary

NMDC Group is seeking a 1st W/K Engineer for a Self-Propelled Cutter Suction Dredger in the UAE. You will maintain engine room watch, monitor propulsion and auxiliary systems, and respond to alarms and faults to ensure safe vessel operations.

Qualifications include a Bachelor of Marine/Mechanical Engineering, STCW certs, and a Chief Engineer certificate, with a preference for dredger experience. Join a team dedicated to safety, compliance, and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Experience aboard dredgers or SPCSD preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years rank experience on dredger.
  • Chief Engineer competencies and STCW qualifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and efficient engine room watch in accordance with procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor and operate main propulsion and auxiliary systems.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, faults, and emergencies.
  • Carry out routine inspections and preventive maintenance during watchkeeping duties.
  • Assist senior engineers in planned maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure proper fuel, lube oil, and cooling system management.
  • Maintain engine room logbooks and records per requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with MARPOL, SOLAS, and environmental regulations.
  • Supervise junior engine room crew during watches and maintain housekeeping.
  • Coordinate with bridge and other departments for smooth vessel operations.
  • Participate in drills and safety meetings.
  • Report defects or safety concerns promptly.

1st W/K Engineer for Self-Propelled Cutter Suction Dredger

Responsibilities
  • To maintain a safe and efficient engine room watch in accordance with company procedures and statutory regulations.
  • To monitor and operate main propulsion machinery, auxiliary systems, and associated equipment.
  • To ensure all parameters such as pressure, temperature, and levels are maintained within safe limits.
  • To respond promptly to alarms, machinery faults, and emergency situations.
  • To carry out routine inspections and preventive maintenance during watchkeeping duties.
  • To assist the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer in planned maintenance and repair activities.
  • To ensure proper fuel, lube oil, and cooling systems management during operations.
  • To maintain accurate engine room logbooks and records as per company and regulatory requirements.
  • To ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and pollution prevention regulations (MARPOL, SOLAS).
  • To supervise and guide junior engine room crew during assigned watches.
  • To ensure housekeeping standards and cleanliness in the engine room are maintained.
  • To follow all permit-to-work systems and safety procedures during maintenance activities.
  • To coordinate with the bridge and other departments for smooth vessel operations.
  • To participate in drills, safety meetings, and emergency preparedness activities.
  • To report any defects, abnormalities, or safety concerns immediately to senior engineers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Marine/mechanical Engineering.
  • Basic & Advanced STCW training certificate.
  • Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer.
  • Minimum 5 years rank experience on Dredger preferably on SPCSD.
