Job description

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Supervise and monitor the daily operation of all machinery on tugs to ensure efficient performance.
  • Report any faults or operational issues to the Foreman Tug Fleet/in Charge to prevent resource wastage and control costs.
  • Conduct regular major and minor maintenance and repair activities on tugs to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Develop and manage an engine spare parts and machinery inventory, preparing and submitting material requests to the Foreman Tug Fleet/In-Charge as needed.
  • Perform routine PMS tasks, including filter cleaning/changing, engine oil replacement, and addressing water or oil leaks. Ensure general cleanliness of machinery spaces and compliance with DDW-D standards.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, foremen, supervisors, and management to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Participate in departmental training programs as required.
  • Inspect materials to ensure they meet quality standards and report any damages before use.
  • Work within assigned timelines to achieve department goals and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
  • Execute job-related tasks consistently to ensure operational continuity.
    Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Education: Minimum 12th grade with Science. A degree is preferred.
  • Certification: STCW.3 (Engine) Restricted.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Tug Engineer in the port industry.
  • Additional Qualifications: Marine Diploma (optional).
  • Strong knowledge of dual-fuel diesel engines and their operations.
  • Excellent technical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
