Job summary

The Lana, Dorchester Collection Dubai is seeking a dedicated Seamstress/Tailor to maintain uniforms and guest-ready attire across our luxury hotel environment.

You will repair and issue uniforms, assist guests with tailoring, and support the valet team with repairs and alterations. English is required; high standards of service are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in luxury hotel field.
• High school education required.

Responsibilities

• Repair uniforms, linen and other items to ensure best guest experience.
• Assist guests with tailoring items on request.
• Sew buttons and repair small damages with the Valet team.
• Distribute, adjust and label uniforms for new colleagues.
• Issue and collect uniforms by department and employee number.
• Ensure items are clean, stain-free and undamaged.
• Assist in laundry, linen room as required.
• Keep records, inventories and monthly uniform reports up to date.
• Highlight deficits and items to be returned from laundry.

What you'll do

You’ll love what you do and take pride in delighting our guests:

• You will be responsible for the repair of all uniforms, linen and any other items and to ensure our guests receive nothing but the best experience.
• You will assist guest on request for any tailoring items
• You will assist the Valet team to sew any buttons and repair any small damage.
• You will issue new colleagues with uniforms, adjust as required, label and order as necessary.
• You will be responsible for assisting in issuing and collecting uniforms based on department and employee uniform number.
• Check all items to ensure they are clean, stain free, not damaged.
• Provide assistance for laundry, linen room as required.
• Issue new uniforms as new employees arrive, ensure they sign and all sets are issued according to standard.
• Ensure all paperwork is up to date, and monthly reports are prepared for all uniforms sent out.
• Completes inventories of uniforms and updates on any missing, damaged, stained items.
• Highlight any deficits not returned from the laundry and any stained or discarded items.
• Ensure follow up on all outstanding items to be delivered.
• Keep all areas clean and tidy and stocked correctly.

• You will be adaptable and be able to think on your feet and multi-task.
• Communication is what keeps our departments running perfectly. You have great communication skills with a strong guest service ethic.
• English is the primary language used in our hotel. You can comfortably communicate in this language.
• You will be organized, articulate and adaptable.
• Previous experience at least for 3 years’ experience in luxury hotel field.
• You will have a high school education and bring your past experience working for luxury hotels.
