Job summary

Loops Automation LLC is seeking an experienced SCMS Engineer to oversee design reviews, testing and commissioning of SCMS replacements for MV/HV utility grid stations. The role includes updating BCUs, switches, servers, gateways and HIM software, with IEC61850/60870-5-101/104 familiarity and cybersecurity for HV stations.

The candidate should have 5 years of commissioning SCMS experience, preferably with CopaData Zenon Energy Edition or Siemens, and GCC utility exposure.

Qualifications

• 4-year BSc in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of commissioning SCMS for 33/132 kV HV utility stations.
• Must have completed and handed over 3 stations.
• Competent in reading interlocking schemes and configuring the BCU.
• Experience with CopaData Zenon Energy Edition or Siemens.
• GCC utility experience and competency certificates preferred.
• Familiar with SCMS and protection relay protocols and testing tools.
• Familiar with relay testing equipment ISA and OMICRON.

Job description

SCOPE (Brief Description Of Overall Responsibility):

The Substation Automation & Control System (SCMS) Engineer shall be responsible for design review, testing and commissioning of SCMS replacement for MV and HV utility grid stations. The SCMS engineer shall be expected to update, modify, re-program, reconfigure related components such as BCUs, switches network, servers, gateways and SCMS HIM software / operator stations. Familiar with IEC standards for open communication protocols such as IEC61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, IEC103 and SPA-bus. Familiar with cybersecurity as it applies to HV stations.

The Main Job Responsibilities :

• Verify System Architecture Drawings

• Verify System Network Diagrams

• Parameterization, configuration of modifications required to commission the SCMS system and related components at site, and ensure completion of handover to the Client and closure of snag list.

• Capable of testing individual components and overall integrated SCMS system with all interfaces.

• Attending site services for installation supervision, commissioning, site acceptance test and updating related as-built documents

Desired Candidate Profile

• Qualifications: 4 years B Sc in electrical (or related) engineering degree from an accredited university.

• Experience: 5 years in commissioning of SCMS for 33/132 kV HV utility stations

• Must have completed successfully and handover 3 stations.

• Competent in reading interlocking schemes and configuring the BCU accordingly.

• Preference of experience in Copa data Zenon Energy Edition software (training certificates to be submitted) or Siemens

• Preference of GCC utility experience and Competency (e.g. TAQA in Abu Dhabi, attach competency certificate)

• Familiar with various SCMS and protection relay protocols, configuration and testing tools.

• Familiar in using relay testing equipment e.g. ISA and OMICRON
