Job summary

Client of PlaceUp seeks a qualified Refrigeration Technician to install, inspect, maintain and repair refrigeration and cooling systems in a fast-paced environment. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot a range of equipment including compressors, condensers and evaporators.

Qualifications

• Diploma, technical certificate, or vocational qualification in Refrigeration, HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous hands-on experience as a Refrigeration Technician, HVAC Technician, or similar position.
• Good understanding of refrigeration systems and refrigeration cycles.
• Strong troubleshooting skills covering both mechanical and electrical components.
• Experience with compressors, condensers, evaporators, control systems, and associated refrigeration equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Ability to use refrigeration testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain and repair refrigeration and cooling systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to scheduled plans.
• Troubleshoot compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, controls and motors.
• Check system performance, temperatures, pressures and operating conditions.
• Detect and address refrigerant leaks and other issues following safety procedures.
• Replace defective components and carry out system adjustments as needed.
• Test and commission after installation or repairs.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, parts and service work.
• Ensure tools, equipment and work areas are safe.
• Follow health, safety and technical procedures at all times.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, suppliers and other technicians when required.
• Provide technical recommendations regarding repairs, replacements and preventive maintenance.
