Job summary

GRAND MERCURE is seeking a General Technician to perform a broad range of technical support duties across equipment, machinery and systems. The role includes troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair work to ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate should have a strong technical background in air conditioning, refrigeration and electrical systems, with the ability to multi-task, work safely and communicate effectively with other departments.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the same position is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and troubleshoot equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Maintain logs, repair records and spare parts inventory.
• Follow safety protocols and regulatory requirements while working with machinery.
• Assist with installation, calibration and setup of new equipment and systems.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and address technical issues as needed.
• Support training of junior technicians or apprentices as required.
• Keep work areas clean and organized and store tools properly.

Job description

The General Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of technical support tasks to ensure the smooth operation of equipment, machinery, and systems. This role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities across various departments and disciplines. The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical background, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to support day-to-day operations.

Conduct regular inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery to identify faults and ensure optimal performance.

Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is functioning effectively and minimize downtime.

Maintain and update equipment logs, repair records, and inventory of spare parts.

Ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance with regulatory requirements while working with machinery and tools.

Assist with the installation, calibration, and setup of new equipment and systems.

Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and address technical issues as needed.

Support the training and guidance of junior technicians or apprentices as required.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly stored.

Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve technical issues that may affect production or service delivery.

Complete requests in timely, accurate, efficient and knowledgeable manner.

Maintenance of Chillers, Freezers, split units, AHU, fan coils, cold rooms.

Preventive Maintenance of refrigeration system.

Preventive maintenance for all kitchen equipment, pumps, air conditioning to be carried out.

A self-starter, takes initiative, can make decisions in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Reasonably high level of knowledge and skill in Air conditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical.
• Must have the ability to multi-task.
• Should have knowledge and skills to work with Chillers, Freezers, split units, AHU, fan coils, cold rooms.
• Proficient in the English language (verbal & written), second language is an asset.
• Previous experience in the field required.
• Candidates should have a minimum of two years' experience in the same position.
• Ability to repair and maintain A/C air handling units, fan coils and cold storage and refrigerators.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and use of test equipment's.
• Proficiency in the above areas and a good foundation in all other areas
• Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): Frequent standing and walking throughout shift. Lifting and carrying. Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, sitting. Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
