The Quality Operations Technician will support daily assurance and compliance activities across facilities, vessels, and operational teams. The role serves as an accessible source of quality information for craft supervisors and helps ensure that inspection records, technical references, registers, corrective actions, and performance measurements remain accurate and current. Using approved operating and scientific procedures, the technician will evaluate routine issues, select suitable solutions, and coordinate with supervisors, administrative personnel, and quality representatives. The position contributes to safe operations, effective audit readiness, reliable record‑keeping, and the timely closure of quality concerns.
Core Duties
- Act as the primary contact for craft supervisors requiring access to current standards, codes, technical publications, inspection tools, and measuring instruments.
- Ensure operational teams use the latest approved technical and quality information.
- Verify that inspection forms follow the established standard format.
- Confirm that required inspection documentation is completed accurately each month.
- Maintain organized quality records in accordance with company procedures and retention requirements.
- Keep applicable codes, standards, reference documents, and technical publications current and accessible.
- Coordinate between facilities or vessels and the administrative office regarding corrective action register items.
- Track the status of corrective actions, responsible parties, target dates, and closure evidence.
- Follow up on overdue actions and raise unresolved issues to the appropriate quality or operational representative.
- Assist in developing methods for measuring operational non‑conformances and their effect on productivity.
- Record quality‑related disruptions such as production delays, unscheduled helicopter flights, and unnecessary vessel movements.
- Help analyze recurring non‑conformances and identify areas requiring operational attention.
- Assist with preparation for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISM, and ISPS audits.
- Organize audit evidence, supporting records, registers, and controlled documents before scheduled assessments.
- Support the closure of corrective action requests arising from internal or external audits.
- Serve as a focal point for expediting facility and vessel issues related to quality.
- Communicate quality concerns promptly to operational management and relevant support functions.
- Assist with the collection and reporting of facility and vessel key performance indicators.
- Verify that KPI information is complete, consistent, and submitted within reporting deadlines.
- Maintain accurate registers covering ladders, below‑hook lifting devices, corrective actions, training, and material safety data sheets.
- Monitor register expiry dates, inspection status, certification details, and outstanding updates.
- Support verification that lifting accessories and related equipment have current inspection records.
- Maintain traceable documentation for training attendance, competence records, and required refresher activities.
- Ensure material safety data information is properly recorded and available to relevant personnel.
- Apply established procedures when evaluating routine quality and operational problems.
- Select practical solutions that comply with approved standards without requiring supervisory approval for routine matters.
- Escalate nonstandard, high‑risk, or unresolved issues to the appropriate authority.
- Work closely with operational supervisors, quality personnel, vessel teams, and administrative staff.
- Protect the accuracy, confidentiality, and availability of quality information.
- Follow company HSE, quality, document control, and operational requirements throughout assigned activities.
Ideal Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Previous exposure to quality operations, inspection support, marine operations, fabrication, construction, energy, or industrial facilities is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret and maintain quality records, registers, standards, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with corrective action registers and audit follow‑up processes.
- Awareness of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of ISM and ISPS codes is beneficial for vessel‑related operations.
- Strong computer skills for maintaining spreadsheets, registers, reports, and electronic records.
- Organized and disciplined approach to documentation and task completion.
- Ability to work independently when applying established operating procedures.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing forms, dates, inspection status, and closure evidence.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
