Job summary

Ohana Development seeks an experienced QA/QC – Materials Engineer with 10–15 years in building construction, preferably luxury residential and high-end developments. You will ensure materials and related works meet approved specifications, quality standards and project requirements.

You will review submittals, inspect materials on site, coordinate testing with consultants, and maintain quality documentation to support handover and close-out activities. UAE/GCC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of QA/QC and materials experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, testing and QC procedures.
  • Familiarity with MIRs, ITPs, NCRs and technical documentation.
  • Experience with international standards (ASTM/BS/EN).
  • UAE/GCC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve material submittals, data sheets, samples and test reports.
  • Ensure materials meet approved specifications, drawings and standards.
  • Inspect materials on site and verify compliance with samples.
  • Monitor storage, handling and protection of materials.
  • Coordinate testing, inspections and approvals with consultants and labs.
  • Maintain MIRs, ITPs, test reports and NCRs.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct site and factory inspections as required.
  • Evaluate substitutions from a quality/technical perspective.
  • Oversee quality audits, project handover and close-out activities.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and international standards.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced QA/QC – Materials Engineer with 10–15 years of experience in building construction, preferably within luxury residential and high-end developments. The role will be responsible for ensuring all materials and related works meet approved specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve material submittals, technical data sheets, samples, certificates, and test reports.
  • Ensure materials comply with approved specifications, drawings, and applicable international standards.
  • Inspect materials delivered to site and verify compliance with approved samples and documentation.
  • Monitor material storage, handling, and protection on site.
  • Coordinate material testing, inspections, and approvals with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and laboratories.
  • Review and maintain MIRs, ITPs, test reports, NCRs, and other quality documentation.
  • Identify and manage non-conforming materials and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct site and factory inspections where required.
  • Evaluate proposed alternative materials and substitutions from a quality and technical perspective.
  • Monitor quality of premium architectural and finishing materials, including marble, stone, tiles, timber, glass, metalwork, joinery, waterproofing, and specialist finishes.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10–15 years of relevant QA/QC and materials experience.
  • Proven experience on luxury residential, high-rise, hospitality, or high-end developments.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, testing, specifications, and quality control procedures.
  • Experience with material submittals, MIRs, ITPs, NCRs, and technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant international standards such as ASTM, BS, and EN.
  • UAE/GCC experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with premium and bespoke finishes is highly desirable.
