Job summary

Tornado Group in Abu Dhabi is hiring a QA/QC Engineer to implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control across construction and MEP projects. You will ensure compliance with project specs, international standards, and client requirements, driving safety and efficiency to minimize rework.

Minimum 7 years of QA/QC experience in construction with UAE knowledge is required. Prior Aldar project exposure is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• QA/QC certification or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor preferred.
• Strong knowledge of international standards (ISO, ASTM, BS, ACI).
• Proficiency in MS Office and QA/QC documentation systems.

Job Summary

The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance and quality control processes across construction and MEP projects to ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements. This role ensures that works are executed with the highest level of quality, safety, and efficiency while minimizing rework and delays.

Candidate Profile

Responsibilities

1. Quality Planning & Documentation

• Review and implement the project’s Quality Plan, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), method statements, and related documents.
• Prepare and maintain QA/QC records including inspection reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and corrective action plans.
• Coordinate with consultants/clients for approvals of QA/QC documentation.

2. Inspections & Testing

• Conduct inspections for incoming materials, in-process work, and final deliverables to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Monitor subcontractor works to verify adherence to project quality standards.
• Arrange and witness laboratory/material testing as per project requirements.
• Ensure calibration and certification of testing equipment.

3. Compliance & Standards

• Ensure all works comply with relevant codes, standards (ISO, ASTM, BS, ACI, etc.), and contractual requirements.
• Support the implementation of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems within the project.
• Report deviations and propose corrective/preventive actions.

4. Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with site engineers, project managers, and consultants to resolve quality issues.
• Conduct regular QA/QC meetings to review progress, NCRs, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with HSE teams to ensure integration of quality and safety standards.

5. Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
• Promote awareness of quality requirements among project staff and subcontractors.
• Conduct toolbox talks and quality awareness training sessions.

Skills

Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Certification in QA/QC or ISO 9001 (Lead Auditor preferred)
• Strong knowledge of international standards (ASTM, BS, ISO, etc.)
• Proficiency in MS Office and QA/QC documentation systems

Required Experiences

Minimum 7 years of QA/QC experience in construction projects

UAE experience is mandatory, preferably in Abu Dhabi

Previous experience on Aldar projects is highly preferred

Experience in:

• Building construction (villas, residential/commercial towers) or infrastructure projects
• QA/QC processes including inspections, testing, and documentation

Strong knowledge of:

• Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
• Method Statements and material submittals
• NCR management and corrective actions

Experience working with:

• Consultants, contractors, and third-party testing labs
