The Planning Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining detailed project schedules while ensuring alignment with divisional and corporate planning objectives. The successful candidate will work closely with project execution teams, resource coordinators, and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to scope.
This role plays a critical part in driving project performance through robust planning practices, schedule controls, resource forecasting, and proactive risk management.

Your Role
As Project Planning Manager, you will have the following areas of accountabilities
Project Scheduling & Planning
- Develop and maintain project baseline schedules covering all project phases from initiation through closeout.
- Establish, monitor, and manage key milestones, deliverables, and project timelines.
- Integrate engineering, procurement, and construction activities into the master project schedule.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to approved schedules.
- Update and revise schedules based on project changes, progress updates, and scope modifications.
- Conduct critical path analysis and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Resource Management
- Forecast and monitor manpower, material, and equipment requirements.
- Ensure optimal resource allocation across project activities.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics teams to prevent shortages and delays.
- Identify resource bottlenecks and elevate critical issues to project leadership.
- Perform schedule risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Implement contingency plans for critical activities and milestones.
- Monitor project risks and proactively identify potential delays.
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to track project performance.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and present progress reports, S-curves, earned value reports, and schedule variance analyses.
- Provide regular updates to Project Directors and senior management on project performance and planning status.
- Maintain accurate records of scheduling updates, revisions, and change requests.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, project controls standards, and industry best practices.
- Conduct periodic schedule audits to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
- Support quality initiatives to ensure project deliverables meet required standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop project planning and scheduling teams.
- Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions for planners and schedulers.
- Drive performance management and continuous improvement initiatives within the planning function.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of planning and scheduling experience.
- Minimum 3 years in a Planning Manager or similar leadership role.
- Extensive experience across multi-sector industries including: Oil & Gas, Civil Construction, Marine, Power, Industrial Plants & Operations
- Proven experience managing complex EPC project schedules from concept through execution and commissioning.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, or equivalent is preferred.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or other relevant project management certifications are highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project and project planning software.
- Expertise in: Project Controls, Earned Value Management (EVM), Critical Path Method (CPM), Resource Planning & Allocation Schedule Risk Analysis
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Highly analytical with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
