Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Planning Engineer to spearhead project scheduling and control functions for large-scale construction or oil & gas projects in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning and project controls with the ability to guide a team interface with stakeholders and drive project success through meticulous planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop maintain and monitor comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent tools.
- Prepare baseline schedules look-ahead plans progress measurement systems and recovery plans.
- Lead project planning meetings and coordinate with engineering procurement and construction teams.
- Conduct critical path analysis delay analysis and resource/cost loading assessments.
- Generate weekly and monthly progress reports and dashboards for management and client stakeholders.
- Identify schedule variances trends and deviations; propose mitigation and recovery strategies.
- Manage project change requests and assess time impact analysis for variation orders.
- Ensure alignment between project schedules and cost control budgets.
- Maintain an interface with clients consultants and subcontractors regarding project status and schedule risks.
- Lead and mentor junior planners and ensure adherence to planning standards and procedures.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical or equivalent)
- Master s Degree in Project Management is desirable
- PMP certification is preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the Middle East as a Planning Engineer in the Construction or Oil & Gas sector
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Expertise in Primavera P6 MS Project and MS Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Proficiency in delay analysis techniques and forensic scheduling
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask prioritise and work under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
