Job summary

ALFIRAS General Contracting in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Project Planning Manager to develop, manage and control project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project requirements. You will monitor progress, assess changes and risks, coordinate with project teams, and provide clear reporting to senior management.

A Civil Engineering degree and 10+ years in construction planning, including villa projects and main contractor exposure, are required.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Planning Manager to join our team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Project Planning Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and controlling project schedules to ensure timely delivery in line with project requirements. The role involves monitoring progress, identifying risks and delays, assessing the impact of changes, implementing recovery strategies, and providing clear and accurate reporting to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and comment on the Baseline Schedule and other project schedules and reports, providing recommendations and updates to the Projects Controls Manager.
• Monitor actual progress against planned activities, milestones, and contractual completion dates.
• Develop, maintain, and update detailed project programmes using Primavera P6.
• Review baseline programmes, execution schedules, recovery programmes, look-ahead schedules, and programme updates.
• Monitor critical path activities, key milestones, and overall project completion dates.
• Analyse programme performance and identify delays, slippages, risks, and potential impacts on project completion.
• Assess the impact of changes, variations, delays, and unforeseen events on the project schedule.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineers, Consultants, QS/Commercial Teams, and other stakeholders to maintain alignment with the approved programme.
• Coordinate with project teams to obtain accurate progress information and ensure timely programme updates.
• Maintain accurate planning records, programme updates, progress data, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor contractual milestones and provide forecasts of project completion and handover dates.
• Ensure project planning and scheduling activities remain aligned with approved construction methodologies and project objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in construction planning.
• Proven experience working with a Main Contractor is mandatory.
• Proven experience in villa construction projects is mandatory.
• Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and project controls.
• Experience in baseline programme development, schedule updates, recovery planning, and delay analysis.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, resource planning, and project timelines.
• Experience monitoring Contractor performance, manpower, equipment, and site progress.
• Strong reporting, analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
• Candidates must be willing and flexible to be based in Abu Dhabi.

Important:

Main Contractor experience is mandatory.

Candidates whose experience is exclusively with Consultants, PMC companies, or Subcontractors will not be considered.

Candidates must have direct experience in villa construction projects and a Civil Engineering background.
