Job Purpose
Interface Manager is accountable for overall interface activities in the detail engineering phase at the home office as well as execution at site, combining technical and coordination aspects. The role holder is the principal point of contact, liaising with internal and external stakeholders for technical inputs and ensuring coordination among multiple parties/project packages during design and execution.
The Interface Manager leads and oversees all interface management activities, ensuring effective coordination, communication, monitoring, reporting, and control of interfaces among project stakeholders, while providing leadership and supervision to the Interface team.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead engineering coordination and execution of interface requirements through close interaction with internal and external parties, stakeholders, end users, and EPC contractors, identifying, developing, coordinating, expediting and stewarding interfaces until closure.
- Coordinate and establish regular interface meetings between EPC contractor and company.
- Lead discussions and coordination with Operations, Material Handling Operations and Turnaround team for interface activities.
- Provide regular coordination on Project Interfaces to Process/Commissioning Manager and deliver monthly and weekly progress reports, proactively identifying interface issues.
- Coordinate and participate in various project‑related interface meetings and activities, ensuring timely completion of battery limit tie‑ins and related scopes.
- Act as the focal point for identifying, defining, and executing technical/physical internal and external interfaces through the EPC phase via Interface Point registers.
- Monitor and control IP databases, manage IPs and IQs initiation, correspondence, agreements to align with interdependency schedule.
- Participate in reviewing project scope, implementing strategies, execution plans, constructing strategies.
- Establish and execute interconnections with existing facilities, participate in Interface HAZOP for interface points.
- Ensure battery limit HAZOP is carried out per project requirements.
- Organize interface meetings to finalize interface point registers for multiple disciplines.
- Work closely with FEED/EPC contractor interface team and other stakeholders; follow up on documentation, provide feedback to Process/Commissioning Manager to avoid schedule delay.
- Identify key interfaces between project and existing facilities during shutdown activities; maintain database and review pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures.
- Ensure pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures are prepared on time and reviewed properly; maintain interface engineering documents review plan.
- Assess performance through KPIs, mid‑term and final reviews, providing feedback on improvement areas.
- Review interface discipline‑specific concession requests, validate basis and impact on technical integrity before endorsement.
- Monitor interface discipline‑specific design change management, ensuring proper multi‑discipline impact assessment and control.
- Maintain regular meetings with interface discipline counterpart for timely coordination and problem resolution.
- Communicate discipline‑specific updates to Process/Commissioning Manager and address technical conflicts and disputes professionally.
- Oversee and lead interface execution to achieve desired outputs and performance.
- Continuously monitor pre‑commissioning/commissioning schedule; develop and cascade status to avoid slippage.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- 4‑year bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Proven skills and experience in brown‑field and green‑field projects.
- Minimum 20+ years of experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, 5+ years in GCC region preferred.
- At least 5 years in similar position for international Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.
- Experience working with multiple packages for FEED and EPC projects.
- 5+ years of experience in ADNOC preferred.
- Experience in project execution and knowledge of engineering standards preferred.
- Strong team‑working, multi‑cultural, and multi‑national workforce engagement.
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
