Job Purpose

Interface Manager is the role accountable for the overall interface activities in the detail engineering phase at home office as well as execution of the project interface activities at site which combines both technical and coordination aspects. The role holder acts as a principal point of contact who liaises with all internal and external stakeholders for various technical inputs and ensures coordination among multiple parties or project packages that is required during the project design and execution phase.

The Interface Manager shall lead and oversee all interface management activities, ensuring effective coordination, communication, monitoring, reporting, and control of interfaces among project stakeholders, while providing leadership and supervision to the interface team.

External and Internal Interfaces
  • Interface Manager, Project Interfaces, is responsible for engineering coordination and execution of assigned interface requirements through close interaction with internal and external parties, stakeholders, end-users, and EPC contractors, and will also identify, develop, coordinate, expedite and steer toward closure of all project interfaces.
  • Coordinates and establishes regular interface meetings between EPC contractor and company.
  • Leads discussions and frequent coordination with operations, material handling operations and turnaround team for the execution of interface activities.
  • Provides regular coordination on project interfaces to process/commissioning manager and provides monthly and weekly reports for progress and proactively identifies interface issues.
  • Coordinates and participates in various project‑related interface meetings and activities and ensures the timely completion of the battery‑limit tie‑ins and tie‑ins related to scopes.
Technical Integration
  • Focal point and responsible to identify, define and execute the technical and physical internal and external interfaces through EPC phase by establishing interface point registers.
  • Wel monitoring and control of the interface point databases, managed for interface points and interface quality initiation, correspondence, agreements to align with the agreed interdependency schedule between EPC contractor and various stakeholders.
  • Actively participates in reviewing the project scope of work, various implementing strategies, execution plan, constructing strategies, etc.
Design Alignment
  • Overall responsibility for interface deliverables including but not limited to establishing and executing the interconnections with existing Borouge facilities and participating in interface HAZOP for interface points in addition to other interface drawings and layouts as specified.
  • Ensures that the HAZOP of battery limit interface point is carried out as per the requirements of the project.
  • Organizes interface meetings with internal and external parties for establishing and finalizing the interface point register for multiple disciplines in a timely manner.
Site Coordination
  • Closely working with FEED/EPC contractor interface team and other stakeholders.
  • Follow up on required interface related documentation and feedback to FEED/EPC contractor and other stakeholders and share with process/commissioning manager. Highlights shortfalls and seeks needed support to avoid schedule delays.
  • Focal point for identifying with operations, maintenance and integrity team the key interfaces between project and existing facilities (brownfield works) with particular focus on interface tie‑ins during shutdown period activities.
  • Focal point for maintaining the database and reviewing all pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures of the various systems.
Performance
  • Ensures the pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures are prepared on time and reviews are conducted by the company on time.
  • Productivity: maintain the interface engineering documents review plan.
  • Performance assessment: the three aforementioned parameters along with a set of individual KPIs will be assessed on a regular frequency (mid‑term and final review) by the process/commissioning manager and the outcome shall be fed back to the individual, clearly identifying areas of improvement.
Engineering Change Management
  • Review interface discipline‑specific concession requests issued within the contract; validate the basis of the request and its impact on technical integrity and justification prior to seeking endorsement from process/commissioning manager.
  • Monitor and ensure that interface discipline‑specific design change management is carried out for all relevant engineering changes with proper multidisciplinary impact assessment and the same is recorded and controlled when required.
General
  • Maintain regular meetings with interface discipline counterparts for timely discipline activity coordination and problem resolution as applicable.
  • Communicate discipline‑specific updates and areas of concern on a regular basis to the process/commissioning manager.
  • Address technical conflicts and disputes with counterpart contractor in a professional and systematic manner, relevant to governing specifications, codes and actual situation.
Operational Plans
  • Oversee and lead interface execution and achievement to ensure desired outputs and performance by the team.
  • Continuously monitor pre‑commissioning and commissioning schedules of the project and procedures are developed by EPC contractor and reviewed by company on time.
  • Ensure proper cascade of the schedule status to process/commissioning manager in order to avoid slip.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Minimum Qualification
  • Must hold a 4‑year bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Proven skills and experience in brown‑field and green‑field projects.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in any relevant engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with at least twenty (20+) years of relevant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, including at least five (5) years (preferred) in the GCC region.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a similar position for international oil and gas or petrochemical projects.
  • Experience working with multiple packages for FEED and EPC projects.
  • Five (5) + years of experience in ADNOC projects is required.
  • Offshore and brown‑field project experience is mandatory.
  • Experience in project execution and knowledge of engineering standards is preferred.
  • Promote team working and productive operating climate with a multicultural, multinational workforce.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
