Job summary

Legend Holding Group is seeking an experienced Project Engineer in the UAE to support planning, coordination, execution and handover of construction and fit-out projects. You will manage from pre-construction through completion, coordinating with management, consultants, contractors, suppliers and authorities.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Project Engineer to support the successful planning, coordination, execution, monitoring and completion of upcoming construction and fit-out projects. The successful candidate must have strong technical and project management capabilities and be able to manage projects from pre-construction through handover, while coordinating effectively with management, consultants, contractors, suppliers, authorities and internal stakeholders.

2. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day engineering and construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contracts and project requirements.
  • Support the Project Manager in planning, execution, monitoring and close-out of projects from mobilization to final handover.
  • Review and coordinate architectural, structural, MEP, HVAC, fire and life-safety, fit-out and other relevant technical drawings and documents.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist vendors to ensure timely and compliant execution.
  • Review method statements, material submittals, shop drawings, technical submissions, inspection requests and related project documentation.
  • Monitor project progress against approved programme, milestones and targeted completion dates; identify delays and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring of project programmes, look-ahead schedules, procurement schedules and work plans.
  • Coordinate procurement requirements and ensure materials, equipment and manpower are available in line with the project programme.
  • Monitor project costs, variations, additional works, subcontractor claims, invoices and payment-related technical matters in coordination with commercial and finance teams.
  • Coordinate authority approvals, NOCs, inspections and statutory requirements with relevant UAE authorities and service providers, as applicable.
  • Conduct site inspections and verify workmanship, quantities, materials and completed works against approved requirements.
  • Ensure implementation of quality control procedures, inspection and testing requirements, snagging and rectification activities.
  • Coordinate with HSE personnel and site teams to ensure safe working practices and compliance with project HSE requirements.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly and monthly progress reports, technical reports, trackers, minutes of meetings and management updates.
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate technical and commercial action points with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage technical queries, RFIs, design clarifications and site coordination issues and ensure timely closure.
  • Support testing, commissioning, authority inspections, snag clearance, as-built documentation, O&M manuals and final handover.
  • Maintain organized project records and ensure proper document control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify project risks, constraints and potential delays and elevate critical matters to management with practical solutions.
  • Perform any other project-related duties assigned by management in support of successful project delivery.
  • Demonstrate practical understanding of project planning, budgeting, resource management, procurement and construction sequencing.
  • Understand contractual obligations, scope boundaries, variations, extensions of time, payment procedures and subcontractor management.
  • Assist management in evaluating project performance, cost exposure, programme risks and resource requirements.
  • Maintain strong coordination between engineering, procurement, commercial, finance, operations and site execution teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, building works and fit-out execution.
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural, structural and MEP drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of materials, construction methods, inspection procedures and quality standards.
  • Ability to identify constructability issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
  • Competence in preparing technical reports, progress measurements, trackers and project documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD or equivalent project tools is preferred.
5. UAE Authority & Compliance Exposure
  • Practical experience coordinating UAE authority requirements, approvals, NOCs, inspections and completion processes is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to authorities and service providers such as Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defense, DEWA, RTA, Trakhees, JAFZA, DDA and other relevant authorities will be an advantage.
  • Awareness of UAE construction regulations, applicable codes, HSE requirements and quality standards.
6. Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the UAE construction, fit-out, building or project delivery sector.
  • Proven experience in managing or coordinating projects from pre-construction through completion and handover.
  • Strong experience working with consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and authorities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • UAE driving licence is preferred.
7. Key Performance Expectations
  • Projects delivered safely, within approved scope, budget and programme.
  • Timely resolution of technical, procurement and site coordination issues.
  • Effective control of quality, documentation, progress and project risks.
  • Strong stakeholder coordination and professional communication.

8. Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, commercially aware and technically strong project professional who can independently manage engineering and construction coordination while working closely with senior management. The candidate should be solution-oriented, organized, accountable and capable of taking ownership of project deliverables. Experience with multiple concurrent projects and fast-paced project environments will be highly valued.

9. Compensation

Indicative monthly salary: AED 9,000 – 13,000, depending on the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, technical capability and overall suitability for the role. Final package will be determined based on the selected candidate.
